i don't know if i ever mentioned that rash i got at the hospital - i looked at my hospital tag but either i didn't mention it or i didn't tag the post. in any case, at the time they were giving me the same painkiller that my doctor prescribed me on monday, and soon my head got all itchy. i asked if it could be a side effect, but they said no. then a dermatologist came to look at it and insisted it must be from wearing my hat too often, which made no sense. she told me to stop wearing hats and gave me a salve that was nearly useless because most of the rash was under my hair. well, i used it on the edges and bought a soothing shampoo. the itching was halfway under control when i went off the painkillers, so i never knew for sure if they caused it or not.
you know what i'm about to say, right? yes, of course it came back. took three days, the way such reactions sometimes do. it's very fortunate that yesterday i barely needed the pills because my pain levels were pretty much back to normal - i'll stick to ibuprofen for now and only fall back on the other stuff as a last resort if it gets so bad i'd rather have an itchy scalp. at the moment i am not happy about my itchy scalp. :|
why would a medication cause a rash that mostly affects this one area?? it's certainly weird, but you'd think a dermatologist would have heard of it, or maybe the doctor who prescribed it. instead they blamed it on a hat that i only wore irregularly, maybe a few hours every other day on average. my faith in the medical profession is once again dwindling rapidly.
i just typed "metamizole itch" into google and it suggested "metamizole itchy scalp" so it seems i'm not the only one who's searched for that. no helpful results, but still.
