thoughts on jinkotara? 👉👈 /not even gonna hide in anon im literally the only one in the tag right now 😅
Lmao hello! I LOVE jinkotara! Look before I shipped Zutara I was ROOTING for Lee Zuko and Jin! They were so wholesome and adorable! However I can’t deny the soulmate-ism of Zutara 🤣💜
So to sum up yes I enjoy jinkotara aka two girlfriends and their adorkable tea-serving boyfriend 💙💚❤️
carrie for the angst thing?
Have you ever stopped to think about the toll that being the daughter of a famous person can take, especially when you are trying to go into the same business?
She probably has to deal with the fact that every comment in her youtube videos is either someone comparing her to Trevor or flat out ignoring her to gush about her dad.
Julie and Flynn were probably the only people outside her family who used to see her as her own person, but now they are gone and she’s too proud to do anything about it even though it’s destroying her and her sense of self.
Send me a character and get an angsty thought
I just want to say that I'll come around to watch Julie and The Phantoms, and if I turn into an obsessed, anxious mess with no closure... it'll be all @metaorigin fault!
Anyone else mad that Moana is all skinny in that trailer?
Yeah, and the thing is that Moana isn’t even big, and they still seemed to have made her smaller. =\

Actually, ignoring how Horikoshi doesn’t even try...
You write better than the mangaka. I know that might come of as sarcasm. But im being sincere when I say that. If only hori would actually write about it instead of fans having to do the work for him
Thank you! ^^ I think Horikoshi is doing some great and in some places remarkably subtle worldbuilding and writing.
But he’s put himself in an awkward corner as a creator, by staging his series around his cast challenging the prejudices and norms of their society to make it better, while also having explicitly built a lot of the cultural challenges of his own society into the fictional one. Including ones he hasn’t dealt with himself and doesn’t dare challenge his audience to confront.
This is a problem superhero media as a whole often faces, but Horikoshi isn’t bound by the usual DC/Marvel rules of shared characters and an essentially status-quo universe that resembles our world way more than it logically should.
He’s just. Trying to have his cake and eat it too, and produce really sexist story elements with periodic slightly pro-forma acknowledgments that girls in theory have value and sexism exists and is bad, and not have to actually deal with his own prejudices in his story about confronting and growing past your and others peoples’ prejudices. It’s...not working so good.
(Sexism isn’t actually his only shortcoming, for example his ‘poor character’ Uraraka’s parents...own a construction business. It may be a struggling one, she may have grown up with constant anxiety about money, her character makes perfect sense, but holy shit that is not poverty. The amount of wealth you have to possess in the form of equipment etc to have ‘a construction business’ is just. Horikoshi what the fuck. Are you under the impression you actually addressed class issues in a meaningful manner here.)
But like. How did Hagakure pass the entrance exam? To successfully use a Quirk like ‘being invisible’ to take down a significant number of robots--or even rescue a significant number of people from robots--should require great tactical acumen and a deep understanding of every aspect of your power’s effectiveness, and yet Hagakure is completely clueless.
Or the way he goes out of his way to have the ‘buying stuff for disguises’ bit in the rescuing Bakugou arc make Momo look ridiculous. He identifies a potential plot hole:
‘Couldn’t you have made this stuff with your Quirk rather than buying it?’
*incoherent babbled explanation about how just making stuff she wants devalues currency*
Kirishima concludes, in a manner the story treats as definitive, that she’s a rich girl who just wanted to have fun shopping.
When in fact ‘my body has only a certain total mass I can remove from it before I die and I’d like to save that for emergency situations when we can’t just buy stuff’ would have fit better into his overall worldbuilding and his building story themes! And Momo’s supposed intelligence and rationality.
But no. She has to be a joke. It’s just. It’s very important for the most competent and serious female character in the story to be made a joke of as often as possible.
Ugh.
