yes. Ok. I think the ceremony does not have its origins in daybreak — it was all slapdash informal and an attempt to collect wielders by a guy who just Gives Out keyblades. The ceremony is not NECESSARY, but bequeathing mostly happens on purpose and can happen on accident if someone doesn’t realize that simply thinking “I want this person to receive a keyblade” and you both touching the thing is kind of enough. “But I just wanted to protect her” and your subconscious thought that maybe a keyblade could protect her for a split second it’s not picky. What this is brought up for is I think the ceremony was put in place to make sure everyone knew how many keyblade wielders were out there, knew that they would be choosing someone strong enough, and knew their keyblade would be strong when it manifested. I have a pet theory that if you force one to manifest while it’s still cooking it will be very very fragile and at risk of snapping and causing damage to the inside of your heart.

The ceremony had its origins in Scala, early scala, as a way of safely gathering and passing on the power as the city grew. I’m. Not going to compare it to skyclan but also I will? So. It started informally, no words. Then it gained a few — little things like “I give you this power, as this power was given to me, so long as you’re willing to accept it.” “Here, hold on to this. And close your eyes — you should feel something warm.” “Your heart and your light are stronger than any I’ve ever encountered. It would be an honor to pass my power to you.”. As authority solidified, so did the words — again you don’t gotta say the words. But that’s what they are and it’s a ceremony!

it is a little bit forbidden to give your keyblade to someone without asking them, first of all, but second of all asking the ruling Master. Or one of their proxies, but it goes to the Master. The ruling family has quite a large ceremony when the Master’s Defender is passed on, but people will have smaller ones for their kids or (in early scala days at least, I think as it grew big enough to support itself it became very insular. Hardly anyone in, out only to watch and protect from the shadows) those brought in from outside. Some people will just do it in their house. Some people want to throw a little party:)

adn you do this ceremony early, to make room for it to grow slowly. Sora’s a special case of having enough light to take a chunk of it and it won’t matter, but Riku was about the correct age. The successor would have two ceremonies, one for baby mode, one for finally passing on Master’s Defender. @renatogpadilla : What about baby Ven headcanons from the Age of Fairy Tales? Or current day Ven with Chirithy back and training with Kairi? I imagine having been a part of Sora for so long makes him want to protect Kairi like crazy, but it's VEN, so maybe it doesn't go that well... (Wether it's because the Daybreak Town issues hit them like a ton of Bricks or because Kairi legit wants her own adventure and accomplishments is anyone's guess... Regardless, Chirithy sus)

this goes hand in hand with my daybreak hcs so i think small ven has no concept of private gardens. Daybreak town had communal gardens/agriculture, and the LoD had their gardens and the market near town, and he barely went to the second one so if that boy sees a fruit tree. He's going to take one.

also my FAVOURITE HC thats now supported by khux is that ven Did not Learn how to Read Modern Script until about a year into staying with Eraqus. Ancient text he can read, but Xehanort didn't give him books, and hundreds of years have passed and language has evolved he has no idea what this sign says. Aqua gives him her YA fantasy novels like magic treehouse. vanitas can't read either

he was also just, Extremely nervous a lot... if we had anxiety medication in the age of fairytales he'd be on some. Not only as like, an insecurity thing (because this kid is the most insecure little man--) but also he startles easily and his brain often goes to the worst outcome. He's not necessarily a pessimist, he's very excited when things go right and when there's New Stuff to see!!!!! He often thinks the best of people he hasn't gotten to know!! but that also makes him think he's the one with issues, not someone that might be rude to him. the kid has inattentive adhd leave him be there are also no medications for that -- but he's doing better now that there are older kids who taught him coping methods that work.

He also Definitely played down how darn powerful he was because he didn't want to like, brag, or was afraid the other kids were obviously stronger than he was. The other dandies are STRONG, but Ven didn't have much going on socially, so training/missions was his go-to. khux ven wasn't allowed to be awake during th finale bc he would have gone ham

also wasn't allowed bc the Darkness he ate still had a sentience if not a heart and it hadn't gone thru time and gotten muddled yet so it would not have gone well

Ven Loves weather as a Thing that exists, he loves when it snows and rains and thunderstorms and he would and still does dash outside in that thunderstorm just to be in it. Ventus you will catch a cold. its worth it!!!

when he wakes up he sometimes has a hard time remembering when and where he is, or what he's doing. Sometimes his brain just says hey! We're back home ten years ago, go look for the master :] or hey we're supposed to be asleep go to sleep. it really messes with him he doesn't like it, he'd never experienced something like a sleep paralysis hallucination before and dislikes it Immensely

UM I THINK, I think actually that he and Kairi are buds and they totally see eye to eye! Both fulla light, kind of treated like glass by their best friends, both very interested in being part of something though while Ven is very into traveling and safeguarding the worlds Kairi is taking the Riku route and is into protection mostly for her close confidants. She doesn't care much about The Big Picture, she cares about her friends. They would hang out and like, shake hands and agree not to hold back on each other (well, mostly, Kairi is still learning and Ven is nearly at Mastery level) when sparring or just talking. I feel like if they had to be careful talking to other people, they wouldn't have to with each other. I just think they're fwends and they play extreme uno together... Ven has Huge protective instincts for Sora, like, fully big brother instincts him, but Kairi visited for a little bit a while ago and he kind of "watched over" her little sleeping heart during that time, knowing that Sora was keeping her safe just like he did for him. ventus loves sora to absolute death and sora doesnt even know the full extent of it

i cannot Wait until this kid starts remembering things. I think Namine should help. I think that maybe he should realize half his memories are with Vanitas and hysterically try to find him to get them back

i also think ven has taller energy than the rest of the heart hotel. sora/vanitas/roxas/xion are 5'2" (CANONICALLY? YOURE SHORT?) (vanitas is 5'4" with the heels), ven is 5'5", Namine is 5'7". they r all still growing a little but their heights will remain in this order

well first of all does he know I care him…

second of all I have a lot of thoughts!!! many thoughts head full!!! You might need to be more specific or I am just going to talk about a niche semi-related Thing that I think of and not answer any questions

that being said I think that since Aqua does glass/metalworking and Terra does woodworking, ven was very interested in A Hobby like that from when he first woke up! When he could figure out how to do it on his own he very carefully made Terra a dinky little thing out of wood scraps, and a small nonmagical keychain for Aqua with a blue bead and a green bead (Aqua had asked him his favourite color a few weeks ago for a trinket and he had, after much deliberation, picked up One piece of green glass and given it to her). The wood thing is just stuff glued together, and the keychain is just wire and two beads, but they kept them, and he’s kind of embarrassed about them now. He never really picked up a hobby like that, he’s not great at cooking and gardening isn’t like, his major interest, but he Is good at climbing and exploring.

Personality-wise, he kind of has a fight reaction to anything that startles him (tho both he and van have more of a fawn reaction to trauma which vanitas hates I think) so it’s. Not uncommon to accidentally get punched. It’s hard to sneak up on him, unless he’s spaced out, but it is easy to go hey ven! claps shoulder OOF (SORRYYYYYY)

also I think ven is slightly more possessive than he comes off at first this is His stuff Dont touch it these are also His Friends Dont Touch Them. that’s my darkness obviously that’s my responsibility (he tends to take things on like that) Dont Touch Him

Or maybe they’re even old stories, a tale of seven masters of the past drawn in to a chess game, or the game based on the old fairytales, or the numbers 7 and 13 are ingrained in local culture … see, because obviously Xehanort implies that this prophecy/old masters stuff ISNT common knowledge, but Eraqus CERTAINLY knows about it and it’s in all the architecture/local myths… ok but then also, if we’re to take the opening chess game as more than just clever symbolic narrative bookends, everyone’s symbols ARE right there. I just kind of registered that’s probably what you were talking about. In which case our questions are still there, how much did the common populace know and how much did eraqus know? Did he like, end up with three apprentices who had very distinct chess symbols as keychains and go uh oh john or what—

anyways keyblade manifestation is a mystery to me and I’d love to see it explored because what we know the Lore is, is this: they were fashioned after the likeness of the x-blade. They can be bequeathed to others (shown to not necessarily mean that exact keyblade is passed down, probably this means the ability to wield can be bequeathed). They can be WILLFULLY given. They come from the heart, they are not welded out of steel. They are…. questionably sentient, or maybe just sapient, or somehow are picky about who holds them. Side note khwiki is telling me things I Did not know about the whereabouts of Ven’s heart during 358 and also the ability to wield two which requires more than one heart obvi but which is named synch blade??? always question the wiki but these have sources. Anyways. Keychains can swap their forms so they have a Base and Custom Skins mode. There are three kinds, Light (common), Darkness (Michael mouse??? Not his bbs one the rod one which I GUESS is a counterpa Iiiiii am getting off trackaaaaa), and Heart (which I’m guessing is just the x-blade, maybe the gayblade, and the kh1 keyblade of heart??). Um. What was my point here. OH yeah I was just gonna say Bro Wild. This is completely a mystery to me. Does every keykid’s base form keyblade look different, and we were all just given cool keychains? Are there some kids who melded unique keychains? If I were connecting dots wildly and with reckless abandon I’d say yeah and also you cannot just suddenly one day wield one, you HAVE to be bequeathed, but as soon as that happens it sparks the creation of your own personal heart sword. Every keyblade is manifested independently — those wielding a family keyblade have the ability to summon their own, if necessary, but the family sword is taking up that space in their heart and theyd have to get used to making their own. since, it seems, keyblades (summoned) will die and solidify if their bearer dies, but keyblades (unsummoned) will either disappear or summon themselves somewhere else and retain a small piece of your… essence. A legacy keyblade, I feel, would be a little something like feeling every past Avatar and you are the avatar, but you can’t talk to them. They’re there tho. Also I think that having an exceptionally strong heart would be not only a moral requirement for ensuring the keyblade’s duty is upheld, but also a physical requirement! youre carving out a bit of your heart to make room for a sword. Weak hearts should not do that even if they want to.

i am wondering how much we're going to get hit, emotionally. like, its just making me think about the weeks leading up to khx's shutdown, and how there were wielders going missing in the leadup. honestly, im still not sure how many of the keyblade wielders player meets are actually real. did all of those kids survive? or are some dandelions and others data recreations from their memories. okay part of me kind of wanted Ven to be a true traitor — I love the whole “ven and vanitas are completely different from Ventus (khux)” and I do love exploring that in au form now — but I also. TOTALLY called it. even the Ava part! Granted we don’t know if that’s ACTUALLY Ava or if Darkness is just disguising itself as Ava. At this point we aren’t quite sure if Ventus was possessed at all or just carrying out “ava’s” orders because he’s ten and he trusts her (though, he LOOKS rather possessed. So we’re leaning on the blank expression here)! And to put a finer point on it I’m totally ecstatic that it went this way because it doesn’t quite disrupt their previously-established character arcs/types, and it gives ventus a BURDEN. ventus and vanitas - though vani would honestly hold it over ven’s head. he didn’t like, do it, but he was a vessel and an accessory to murder. Fantastic. My brand. I can’t wait for this to come back and bite us. Showstopping. THAT THING IS STILL IN HIM

and other than the obvious (AND THE FACT THAT STRELITZIA DID CALL OUT TO LAURIAM MY HEART) I loved the Luxu+ MoM scene too!! “sigh” “sigh” “sigh” luxu you’re working your way into my heart. Also nomura was totally looking at the camera the whole time there. AND SIDE NOTE I’m also so happy about the dandies’ relationship with each other! They trust each other! They’re friends!! They love each other!! I’m SUPER curious to see how Lauriam finds out or if Ven straight up confesses to him. Ventus would confess to murder even if he didn’t really do it...

Oh LASTly I have some thoughts about what Vanitas is and I’ve been having them for a while, he’s probably Ven’s heart in a Darkness body. I don’t think he’s just plain ol’, Darkness that possessed Ven! I don’t like that theory very much. So, his body is Darkness, but he gained a whole half a boy heart and is just using it as a way to get around in a sense... he’s Darkness but he’s not! Yes, he’s half of Ventus, but Ventus wasn’t dark enough to form a whole body out of. By which I mean Vanitas is a brand new person, exactly like the novels etc, but Darkness is in there. He’s a weird combination of half of Ven’s heart, ven’s darkness, and by consequence all the darkness capital d that had hidden itself in Ventus. Which is now back because my theory is vanitas is in ven’s heart the end

my twitter account is a hundred percent always me going off in 20 directions king i have so many thoughts head full. i decided today that Vanitas would multiclass as a gloomstalker ranger + shadow magic sorcerer and Ventus would multiclass divine soul sorcerer + oath of the ancients paladin. i want to make khux ven wild magic sorcerer for fun and for profit but i have, very little justification.   also  all the wayfinders have at least some levels in paladin because of Eraqus but they all have different oaths. Terra serves a brief stint as an Oathbreaker, he’s an oath of vengence paladin now. Aqua is probably oath of the Guardian..? oath of the watchers?? she uh-DEFINITELY takes some kind of multiclass in wizard tho
