Mets-Willets Point, Summer 21’
🌸
Today was 75 degrees. I swear all the grass sprouted upwards today overnight. To go a little backwards, the night was long. I wasn't exactly enthused much either-- my painkillers were up and down, as was my mood, and I felt joyless in general. Being sober this month makes me see a lot of things differently. I realized that the spark has been missing lately. If we're not fucking and lying and arguing there's this mediocre lull that settles in and smothers all the residual noise, like putting a lid over a fire. Or maybe I just don't care anymore? We did the walk of shame around six am. Gosh. It's been a year. A year ago last year I remember drunk texting him in a crush cherry red convertible from cheap shots while stuck in between five other people in the rain. Exact date, too. Times rotate so quickly. I saw so many old faces last night and it was very cool. But I felt...I don't know. Empty maybe? In the morning, we watched the sun rise as we walked home. Exhausted. No sleep under my eyes. Hungry (in time for brekkie, but fuck that). I haven't done this walk home in a very long time. It felt refreshing and sad in the same essence. Things change. Things rotate back. I'm running very low on sleep. We retired to our separate corners to sleep for two hours and then join back. He overslept. I packed quietly. The weather was hot, and busy. I planned a new route since my other plans involved too much effort-- I took several painkillers yesterday, but I didn't eat. I only drank a lot of water. So when I woke up from my very weak nap I had the most disgusting headache on earth, and was very disoriented for the most part. My head was all sorts of fucked up. And while I love elaborate plans for dates, I settled for something more simple, and more local. Mets Willets Point is always lovely. It was full of people and noise and flowers and heat. We set up the blankets and had a wonderful picnic and took a little power nap underneath a tree (I'm upset that we didn't get to play yugioh together, but that's another story) and just had a fantastic time. It was nice. I love showing him new places and new things. It's so important to me to share things I love with him. It's important for me to share things I love with those I love in general. It's all I have to give. His laughter and his content smile were enough for me. He's such an amazing and wonderful blessing. I just want to do good by him. I just really want to do good.
So I saw something real bizarre today
These people were on the 7 train and they wore shorts and fishnet stockings and tank tops and had flowers/bandanas in their hair and something about them screamed hipster. Like if I were to personify a hipster blog, they would be it. And I say bizarre because I've never seen such a large gathering of these people on a Flushing-bound 7 train before. Not to mention I saw two girls with bikini tops and fuzzy leg warmers. Anyway it was interesting. There's this carnival thing at Mets Willets Point and there were, and I quote, "DJs, house music" and mobs of people wearing neon. In other news as I exited the station there was a girl walking in front of me who was tall and skinny and wore a hot pink minidress and the only things I was thinking were "wow I wish I had her body" and "damn she has a nice butt". Cuz her waist was sooo skinny and it contrasted with her hips quite nicely. But dat ass tho. I'm not so much "attracted" to her I'm just admiring her physical appearance, like how you would admire, say, a statue.
