( @metuere / spirit. ) madelaine has been sitting on the edge of the bed, listening intently to the words that leave spirit’s lips. she’s hanging on them as if they were a drop of water to a person dying of thirst. fully giving her attention over towards the other female. she shifts her position, leaning towards her, out of nothing other than sheer excitement.
“yeah, so, maybe i’m not such a bad guy for passing out in there and drinking too much or whatever.” a look of shock spreads across the blonde’s face. she reaches out, as if she was going to put a hand on spirit’s shoulder. her fingers hover a inch or two above the fabric of her shirt before she shifts back, realizing her mistake. there is no way to comfort spirit in this moment. all she can do is try to reassure her in the only way possible, with spoken words.
“absolutely not!” she says, a firm shake of her index finger in spirit’s direction, as if she was scolding the other girl for even thinking such nonsense. spirit was a good person, at least, most of the time. if she wanted to overindulge every now and again why shouldn’t she have been able to do so!
“i think you deserve a break like that every now and again,” she says, folding her arms across her chest, a silent but evident ‘hmph’ to leave her lips. “and if that means gettin’ drunk and passing out, girl, you do what you wanna do!”
she bites down on the inside of her cheek, still shocked by the odd sensation that she cannot feel it, but she knows she’s doing it. cannot sense the pain, but there is....something, she can’t put her finger on it. it’s more out of habit than anything else, but she has not managed to stop herself from doing things entirely out of a sense of moving on autopilot.
“i used to get drunk....a lot.” she says, a sheepish look spread across her lips. “okay maybe not a lot, but sometimes. i figure it’s a good way to blow off steam? especially if you’re not hurtin’ yourself or others, why should anyone try and judge you for somethin’ that’s harmless?” spirit didn’t seem like the type to overindulge and do something stupid in regards, or continue to do it at a pace that would end up causing harm to herself in the process, so madelaine saw no harm in having a little fun.
