YEAH, ALRIGHT....
Would the citizens of Athoek enjoy any of the Star wars movies?
Oh, that’s a good question. Maybe? They’d probably find the space battles weird--real battles in space surely wouldn’t work the way they do in Star Wars, and there are probably already conventions for representing space battles in Radchaai (and Athoeki) entertainments that don’t match what they do in SW (which is, I think, based on the way WW2 is generally portrayed in film). So they might find it colorful and quaint/exotic/strange.
The overarching “rebels against the Empire are the heroes” thing would probably get it banned in Radchaai space (certainly before Breq demanded treaty status--after, I don’t know, but probably still), but of course there are reasons that plot might be attractive to post-Conclave Athoeki.

34. Do you tend pick weapons/spells for being useful or for flavor?
Since I’m the DM I don’t get to pick much, but I’m always there for flavor. I give my players as much freedom as I can with stuff and let them reskin things to better fit their thematic. Crossbows can be easily reskinned to firearms (since industrial/steampunkish setting), the artificer’s whole arsenal is usually weird gadgets like a VERY spicy pepper grinder, and the roguelock’s patron is there to make every spell of hers fit their aesthetic, including crystal wings and sparkles all around
