oops so. that page was not supposed to post today but. its vacation!!! have a lil treat 😌

i meant to make an announcement tomorrow when it posted, but as a heads up - laika's will take a brief pause as i am traveling for the next month! i wont be gone for long, just until september.

during that time, i'd like to recover my page buffer for my kofi readers - due to some things happening irl (like moving from an apartment that started to leak sewage water, helping our daughter with college prep, helping a friend move) and artfight ive fallen behind where i'd like to be, so i'll be taking a brief break to catch up before returning to regular posting.

however, i will try to answer some inbox questions with doodles while im gone, because doing those always makes for fun warmup arts. thank you for your support as always!!

-Chat noir in this au is still a joker, making puns and quips. But he knows when to get serious, and understands that he needs to think things through.

-Marinette does act as Chat noir’s strategist, (earlier on telling him how to use his powers on certain things)

-Chat noir getting more strategic where he is able to handle most akuma and purify akuma without Guidance.

-Marinette and Chat noir chilling on her balcony, talking about stuff during free time.

-Without Miraculous healing, people do get hurt and view on Chat noir as some sort of menace rise. (Like the Spiderman problem.)

-A group of Anti-Chat noir individuals tried to get him kicked out of Paris, claiming he is the reason why Hawkmoth is even here.

-Alya runs the Mewspaper, a chat noir blog that keeps up to date with Chat noir’s exploits.

-Chat noir’s durability makes it so he doesn’t get hurt often, but without Miraculous healing, He does keep some battle damage. A prime example is weredad/ Papa Garou

for the 3 year anniversary of the laika's comet project, i wanted to share a link to my ko-fi! here you're able to read ahead the entire month's worth of finished pages, as well as the next two months worth of sketched pages as a member (as well as some other exclusive art thingies and development notes as theyre done.)

this comic would not be able to exist without the support of its kofi members. while i like to make my work free to read for everyone, because i believe art should be accessible to everyone. however, i also want to thank everyone who has helped me make it possible to do so.

there will be some more fun things coming out this month to celebrate the anniversary, and im so excited for the beginning of chapter 3 in two days!

LAIKA'S COMET IS NOW ON HIATUS!

i've been talking about hiatus for awhile now (since about halfway through chapter 2!) but its official - laika's comet is now on hiatus! this hiatus will be a bit longer than the last, but for good reason.

my intention is to keep working until i can rebuild a buffer of finished pages that is larger than the buffer i've been working with up until this point. a photoshop update corrupting multiple pagefiles, a few challenging pages and then getting the flu for two weeks meant my entire buffer was depleted within the span of two months.

thankfully - that's what a buffer is for! i was able to finish out the main climax of the chapter so there weren't any strange pauses in the story, or stopping during a cliffhanger. that said, realizing that only two life events outside of my control was enough to leave me with no buffer has made me realize i need to be working with more than i thought. so yeah, ill be gone for a bit... but when i come back, i hopefully won't have to take a pause like this one again for awhile.

in the meantime, ill be trying to answer some asks to this blog in the #letters tag like i have been (and moreso to keep the time in between less quiet) as well as uploading art i work on for stuff outside the comic. i hope that you wont be too sad or miss laika and co too much while we're gone... and thank you again for reading/giving my comic a chance! i want to continue making a story you can all enjoy and be proud of.

also - i realize i never made an official post stating so (just said so on streams) but laikas will update on thursday alone until the end of chapter 2 to give me some more time to build a healthy buffer between where the audience is and where i am in drawing the comic!

i wanted to bring it back so we could get the story moving along, but i also dont want to rush into it and have to hiatus again ' w ';;

that said, on thursday nights from now on i will be streaming work on future comic pages (with the speech bubbles blanked out so no spoilers hehe) so if that interests you, there is that!

btw i was reading thru the tag today and saw someone say it was difficult for them to keep up with updates to the comic on this blog due to reblogging fanart and answering asks

i just wanted to let everyone know, this comic also has a comicfury, which you can read on HERE!

i like to use this blog to support fanartists and answer fan mail, but i understand thats not everyones preferred way of reading webcomics. at some point id like to make a carrd with all the places you can read laikas and some basic info, but these days im quite busy.... maybe someday!!

by the way, i get questions of when the comic will come out of hiatus every so often...

technically, on my kofi it already has! pages have started to post there once again. but if youre patient, laikas will begin releasing to the public before the end of the year! it might feel like a long ways away, but the wait will be worth it - ill be able to come back to you with a more solid posting schedule like before.
