Besides, he’d got the impression Jayne had already taken an irrational dislike to him - never mind that he’d only been on board Serenity for about half an hour - and was doing his best to keep out of the larger bloke’s way.

OH BOY! Where do I start with @mexhanicisms? Adam && I met through a group verse actually, && I’m honestly so happy I approached him, because he! is! amazing! Probably. Not on purpose, anyway. Not on purpose before they’d had a real good reason to. Sometimes, conversations just go a little smoother with guns out, that’s all. Means they can do a bunch of the talking for you.

It’s defensive and okay, yeah, maybe he feels a little guilty. But if he’d known it was her a little earlier, then he would’ve told the captain earlier, and they’d all have reached this uneasy truce earlier.

Well, that was certainly… unexpected.
Lincoln blinked a few times, his expression one of neutral confusion before it slowly faded into a slightly uncertain smile. Normally, he wouldn’t be so laid back about it - baffled, yes, but if someone tried to invade his personal space without permission he usually got at least a little snappish.
But honestly, who could be snappish with Kaylee? Hardly anyone, he imagined.
The hint of a chuckle escaped him. “Uh… thanks. Any reason for that?”

He’s exhausted, practically asleep in the chair. His eyes are closed ‘cause keeping them open feels like far too much effort, and what effort he’s got left in him is being expended on processing what Kaylee’s saying to him.
“Only I’m looking forward real hard to getting reacquainted with my bunk, and you’re... talking a lot.” Tired, but with no heat to his words. A little fond. A lot frustrated.

Simon grumbled, leaning more so into Kaylee’s soft touch. Her lips against his cheek was nice though. “--- I could just ring his stupid neck---” The young doctor mumbled as rubbed at his mouth, and blinked a few times. “I’d punch him but I think it hurt my hand.”
