[JANUARY 2025] Songsterr Tab for Weezer's "Mexican Fender" has been completed and uploaded, as per user request!
"Mexican Fender" is the opening track to Weezer's pop-rocky 2017 album Pacific Daydream. Notable for its strong distorted power chord progression, this is probably the most rock-sounding song from the LP, and I easily fell in love with its powerful choruses and energetic bridge—the latter of which is chock-full of nice vocal harmonies. According to Weezerpedia, near the start of the song where Rivers references "a guitar shop on Santa Monica and 7th Street", you can hear Pat say "That's Truetone!" in the background; this refers to the Truetone Music shop originally located on that intersection at the time the song was written. If you go on Google Maps, though, you'll find that the shop has moved since then and is now located on Broadway and 11th, 0.4 miles away.
I was really happy to see someone request a tab for this song, as I really like Pacific Daydream, and "Mexican Fender" is next to "Weekend Woman" as my two favorite tracks from the album. I was originally using the music video to help write the tab until I realized that the official version of the song is slightly different than the one in the music video. An easy example of this difference can be heard at the end of the first chorus where Rivers is singing "She loves me, she loves me not"; in the official version, you can hear a guitar panned to the right side playing a quiet riff during this part. This guitar is not present in the music video version of the song, so I avoided using the music video in case there were other differences present.
