First one on the list is the Las Abuelas!
This is one of the budding coffee shop in Meycauayan. Lucky me, it’s only a few meters away from our house. When I saw that a new coffee shop was going to open near our home, I got really excited to try it out. So when they opened, I was so tempted to go with my sister.
We went there on a Sunday. The first thing that I noticed the moment I stepped inside was that the place is pretty adorable. Even though the place was small, they made it look homey and Instagram worthy. There are quotes on the wall, about family and other inspiring stuff. (Sorry, I have no time to remember all of those). The chairs are made of wood and there is a small couch too.
I ordered Kai’s Butterball from the Cream Based Frappuccinos. First sip of the Kai’s Butterball was like the taste of childhood. I remember how much I love stuffing my mouth with butterball candies when I was a kid. I totally recommend this one.
I ordered Davao Chip for my Mom, and it’s perfect for people who like frappuccino where you can actually taste the coffee.
We also ordered two of their pastas. The Adobo Pasta and Bolognese. It was soooooo delightful. The Adobo Pasta they served came with a garlic bread and 1 chicken leg. It was a little dry but the taste of Adobo in that pasta surprised me big time. It was new to my taste buds, and I loved it.
The Bolognese tasted different too! I was thinking what is that unique taste, and when I read the menu. The Bolognese has some Vigan Longganisa in it! What a pleasant surprise!
Las Abuelas also offers pastries and cakes. I haven’t tried their cheesecakes but I’ve tried their very moist and velvety Red Velvet Cupcake. I’m also fond of their Chocolate Chip Cookie. It’s not overly sweet and it has some salty taste in it too.
The owner, Chef Rei (I believe) was kind enough to answer my question to why Las Abuelas was named Las Abuelas. He said that it means “The Grandmothers” and the names of their coffees and foods was after the names of his family’s grannies and family members. How cool, right?
Verdict? :)
RATING:
FOOD: 3.5 SERVICE: 4 VALUE: 4.5 ATMOSPHERE: 3

I totally recommend this place. It’s definitely worth the bucks for a new place. I’m sure you’ll love the menu and also the memories you can create with your family, friends or loved ones.
