 i miss her

some of my favorite lore is the lore between banes and gaolers; it's super fun to me, how a species that drove the other to near extinction would interact with it again. tossing in other factors, like a gaoler's age or banescale's inherited(?) memory, makes it more interesting bc of all the ways it can pan out

all the Frogenstill gaolers are Super Effin Old; ginger, mezzo, perre, and carrots all remember the wipeout. tabk and the nameless were only born a month or so before the banes came to light. however, ginger grew through her millennia almost jaded; she sees the event still as a great victory, and hasn't realized the change in the dymanics of their world despite being a seeker (ex sentiental) like perre somewhat has. she believes that, if it were nessicary, the gaolers could repeat their genocide.

in fact, she finds it a shame they already didn't.

TOP GAOL POLL 6- MEZZOTINE AND BINXE

Mezzotine. Quiet, calculative, and scarily intellegent; this Gaoler has been in charge of the Frogenstill Fortress for, practically, centuries. She's had quite the life; with a daughter, a former mate, lots of infighting, and baring the rare ability among the order with the ability to fly. She's been the Warden of this fortress for as long as she can remember and she has no plans on retiring soon.

Binxe, meanwhile, has none of that ambition and drive- rather, her main goal is survival. After she and her partner in crime, Eirys , were caught stealing a magic artifact from one of the powerful trade clans, they managed to run off and breedchange into Gaolers to hide. A shame they couldn't afford scatterscrolls, though.

doodled a mezz while at an art thing

Gingerdoodle, the Seeker-Warden and the Second of Frogenstill | Toibomme, the Overseer-Second and Daughter of Mezzotine

Gingerdoodle would always growl as she watched the Warden’s daughter, Toibomme, saunter about as though she owned the fortress. After she voiced her griveances with the  warden Mezzotine herself, the Warden turned to her daughter. 

 “Bomme,” Mezzotine asked, “My Second tells me you aren’t entirely fond of her. Seems to think you want to overthrow her after I pass. Tell me, what qualms might you have with Gingerdoodle’s rule if I pass?” 

 “Why, none,” Bomme hummed in reply. “I have no problems with the way she will rule Frogenstill.”

“I simply think I could do it better.” 

 Mezzotine would tell Ginger that she’s simply imagining things later.
