day 25 ~ reflection
Lyra is Orpheus' constellation. He's the mythological musician who walks down in the Underworld, charming Cerbere, and makes a deal with Hades to bring back Eurydice with him. However, he fails and looses her forever, and from this moment, he's haunted by what he saw in the Underworld. After his death, the muses places his lyre in the sky to create the constellation honoring him.
In Metal Masters, Toby makes a deal with Ziggurat (though he's unaware of it) to be able to Beyblade again. As Faust, he teams up with Damian, Kerbecs' owner. He's strong enough to use a Beyblade but he can't enjoy it the way he used to. Faust is only a shadow of who Toby used to be.
Toby breaks free of Faust, and is able to beyblade again, but his hair stay white, an evidence of what his walk in the Underworld.
Today’s Fanfic Friday is for “This Body of Mine?” by @andro-dino!
This is a short fic from a while ago about Toby, and if you read my fanfic ask, you’ll know this is my favorite of Axel’s fics. It focuses on Toby, post-Faust, thinking about identity and trying to recover his own.
It’s just a really sweet fic, I enjoy the way it takes its time to go in depth on Toby’s mental state, and just offer us a character study. I would really suggest going to read this fic if you haven’t already! Come on, Team Dungeon fan requirement-
I enjoy reading this fic honestly because it tackles Toby’s recovery in a different way than I would. It gives me new insight into the ways people see this character (and most people are nicer to Toby then I am-).
The first drawing is taken from a direct scene in the fic (yes I did that while multitasking stuff) and the second is more an inspired drawing.
So I did the thing-
The fox constellation is in the summer sky, bordering the lyre, like Zeo who never leaves Toby's side.
Some beys are quite ironic. I’m thinking in particular about two beys from Metal Masters :
Byxis (a compass), owned by Zeo, who was quite lost.
Tempo (a clock), owned by Toby, who had an incurable illness.
[Number One’s Promises] but it turned out to be pretty cliche and actually full of flaws CAUSE I DON’T KNOW HOW TO DRAW TOBY AAAAAAAAA
I think I know at least how I’ll draw cogs from now on...
I’ve written a MFB one-shot (abt Zeo and Toby of course) for a tiny contest a friend did... but as we were all French, I had to to write it in French soooo... maybe it’ll work with a translator, i dunno (or maybe I’ll translate it one day but you shouldn’t be so sure abt it)
