I want to be hugged by Hiro!
I saw this comment on YouTube by a Japanese fan on a MY FIRST STORY MV. But it’s so cute in Japanese to me XD

Let's break it down!
The base verb for 抱かれたい here is 抱く / idaku meaning embrace, hug.
To turn idaku / “hug” into a passive verb “to be hugged”, it becomes idakareru.
To say “I want to be hugged”, you turn idakareru into idakaretai / “want to be hugged”.
Why HIRO に / HIRO ni when the speaker is the one wanting to receive the hug? に is a particle meaning “to”. In Japanese, at least from what I understand anyway, when using passive verb, it is like the “responsibility” of giving that hug that the speaker wants ....... goes “to” Hiro. That is why HIROに / HIRO ni.
So, where is the “I” or “私 / watashi” here? You can leave it out. A native speaker can easily figure out from the context “who” is the person wishing to be hugged....... in this case, it is obviously “the speaker”. So, you can drop “I”.
I’m very weak at conjugation like how to turn a basic word into different tenses, feels and expressions. Textbooks are boring and what I read don’t stick to my mind that much. So, I like looking at entertaining examples like this (^^). I mean, “HIROに抱かれたい / HIRO ni idakaretai / I want to be hugged by HIRO” has a higher chance of sticking to my mind, I believe (*^_^*)
p/s: Hmm.... if I could dress up as a lifesize plushie, I might actually get a chance to be hugged by Hiro XD
