The TC Midget was the first post war MG launched in 1945. It was quite similar to the pre-war TB, sharing the same 1,250 cc push rod engine with a slightly increased compression, producing 54.5bhp with several option stages of increased tuning. Only evr built in RHD form, though many were exported to the USA, American cars came with smaller US specification sealed beam head lights and larger twin rear lights, as well as turn signals and chrome-plated front and rear bumpers.. The TCs body has around 4 inches wider body than the Pre-war TB with a wider cockpit, but with a narrower running boards the cars have the same overall width. 10,001 TCs were produced, from September 1945 (chassis number TC0251) to Nov. 1949 (chassis number TC10251), more than any previous MG model. The TC Midget was introduced ain 1945 as the companys first post war MG, it shared the same styling as the Pre-War TB Midget and was powered by the same 1250cc pushrod OHV engine but with a slightly higher compression ratio. It body was around four inches wider (door to door) than the TB for a larger cockpit area but the overall width remained the same, due to narrower running boards The model was widely exported, particularly to the USA, but was only built in RHD form, resulting in a number of older cars being re-imported by collectors. The US cars differ slightly in having smaller US specification sealed beam head lights and larger twin rear lights as well as turn signals and chrome-plated front and rear bumpers. The TC Midget was the first post-war MG, launched in 1945. It was quite similar to the pre-war TB, sharing the same 1,250 cc (76 cu in) pushrod-OHV engine with a slightly higher compression ratio. MG also provided information for several alternative stages of tuning for what they called specific purposes. The TC engine was a slightly improved version of the XPAG first introduced to MG in the TB with performance improvements coming by way of the addition of a hydraulically (oil pressure) adjusted timing chain tensioner. All TCs utilized a (single battery) 12 volt electrical system. All TCs came with 19" Dunlop wire wheels. Automatic mechanical timing advance was built into the ignition distributor. The export version had slightly smaller US specification sealed-beam headlights (7-inch buckets) and twin tail lights, as well as turn signals and chromed front and rear bumpers with over riders. The TCs body was approximately 4 inches (100 mm) wider than the TB measured at the rear of the doors to give more cockpit space.
