Adrien woke with choked gasp, fixing wide eyes on the featureless ceiling.
Images from his nightmare still burned vividly in his mind. He’d been falling, helpless to do anything without his miraculous-assisted powers. He’d been an idiot, jumping in to stop an akuma-corrupted man like that, but there hadn’t been any time. It was either that or watch helplessly as Nino was killed.
He’d managed to throw off the man’s assault, but had been lifted high into their air by the man’s powers in retaliation. He still remembered the moment he’d been released and the blinding stab of sheer terror that shot through him as he dropped like a lead weight from the sky. Ladybug wasn’t there to save him this time.
Only it hadn’t been a nightmare. It was reality. It only felt light a nightmare.
“I’m...alive?” Adrien asked out loud without really meaning to. His voice came out sounding ragged. His mind felt sluggish and bogged down by a thick fog, it was difficult to form a coherent thought.
Father’s Son
m-gabriel-agreste liked this for a starter
Adrien fiddles with the strings on his hoodies as he paces the hall floors, trying to rid himself of the anticipation and anxiety he’s getting from just thinking about asking his father for just on small get together at the mansion. He’s so sick of coming home to an empty house and finding different things to do after he was done with homework and photo shoots.
Which he always does get done on time, and he is doing really good in school, and even his extracurriculars.
His father can’t say no...right?
Chewing his lower lip, the boy stares at the big doors for a moment longer before deciding he’d at least try to ask. He’d promised Nino that he’d at least try to ask his father, so inhaling deeply he walks a bit more firmly up to the doors and raps heavily on the door.
⚔ Dad? A-are here? ⚔

Gabriel was silent for only a few moments, not sure if he had to say anything as he was sure the same thing was running through the other’s mind. Clearing his throat he clasped his hands behind his back and decided he was going to be the first to talk. “Well I do believe that we should keep this between the two of us and let neither Adrien nor Nathalie know about this, agreed?”

Adrien was boring. Even on a good day, it took more effort than should be necessary to gain reception upon Plagg’s demand of it. The same could be said of the tiny feline Kwami, but who was keeping track? Except Plagg. Plagg was keeping track. That was all that mattered.
“Adrien.” A second prompt, the kwami floating behind the chair the boy sat hunched, pencil in his mouth, the nail of his thumb tapping tapping a rhythmic beat more indicative of the rapid thoughts coursing through mind then containing any hope of composing a singular song.
"Adrien." They were on break from classes for a short while, a reprieve from their duties of youth, giving them freedom to celebrate whatever holiday they embraced at home, finishing it off with welcoming the new year coming. Some preferred an isolated existence away from the chaos the season could wrought from nothing, depending on the region of origination. Some jumped right in to immerse themselves in the activities available. Most at least enjoyed the festive atmosphere, the sights and the luxurious smells flooding the streets, designed to draw in those passing by in a rush! There were certain primal urges that could be ensnared, businessmen understanding the delicate process of tempting the unsuspecting until they ended up with a load of merchandise they HONESTLY didn't know they needed.
“ADRIEN.” Plagg started knocking things off his desk. HE WOULD BE HEARD. Adrien, he--- He had dreams, too. Some that went unfulfilled because of the circumstances he lived. He tried to make the best out of the situation. Thus, for the last week, he'd been putting his head to his studies, focused on the project students were to complete before their return to the halls. It was the policy of many of the professors to keep their charges engaged, even when they weren't physically present. It kept information already learned fresh in mind, preserving the integrity of the growing mind from falling into the dangerous trend of stagnation. "Adriennnnn!" Adrien was concocting a lecture on Ladybug. And Chat Noir too! Strange topic with the truth he carried, but he was really proud of it. Before Plagg could poise himself ready to bite, Adrien slammed his hands down against the desk, nearly hard enough to knock over the cup of writing utensils he had propped in a coffee mug. The kwami startled, thinking it some sort of irritated reaction to his annoying prodding, but there was a wide grin on his charges face. "Done--!" Well, not done but certainly he'd reached a place where he could take a break from it all to do what he had been planning from the start, the reason he pushed himself so hard to get ahead! "Finally!" Plagg gave a snort of contempt for whatever it was that kept his charge from retrieving his desired sustenance. Adrien might struggle with the identify of a typical student, but he fought hard in another way too. Plagg was just greedy. He lent his power and fully expected to be served for giving him that privilege!
Adrien pressed his finger to his lips, eyeballing his Kwami quite seriously. “I’m going to be making something in the kitchen. You can come, but you have to be quiet.” With that order, his face hardened, trying to bring about the serious nature of what he was trying to tell him. He was never quite sure who would be coming in and out of the place, businessman, Nathalie, his Father on those rare occasions when he did. Sometimes people bringing in packages and whatever equipment was necessary of keeping the Agreste empire booming.
That wasn’t so important, only that Plagg be quiet, make himself scarce why he worked!
... of course, telling him was one thing, actually standing to witness him obey was entirely another.
Still, he had things to get into!
Adrien cracked his knuckles and dived in, straight to baking!
m-gabriel-agreste:
Adrien, we’ve discussed this before. Neither of us are around the house enough to take care of a pet, and I’m not paying Nathalie or any of the other staff to keep track of a cat.
[Well, this was awkward, wasn’t it? Now Adrien had to figure out how to get the cat out of his bedroom and out of the house without his dad knowing.] “Oh, well, yeah. You’re right, I wasn’t thinking. I should go to my room and, um, reflect…”
A ‘family’ lunch date
@m-gabriel-agreste @etonnantchat
“Merci for taking us out to lunch Gabriel, and I am very glad you could come too, Adrien...”
