michelle gomez somehow always manages to play opposite herself in some capacity…on doctor who she came face to face with herself played by another actor, on caos she played two different characters with the same physical form crossing paths, and on doom patrol the present day version of her character had a whole conversation with her past self. two times is merely a coincidence but three times is a pattern

when lilith said “it’s all i’ve ever known” and laura said “does anyone really know who they are or why they’re here” and miranda said “i’m not sure i fully understand my feelings about that” and missy said “i don’t even know why i’m crying” and mary said “what happened to me?”

the other day i read a comment somewhere that said laura de mille is just what the doctor would look like if michelle gomez played them and i haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since

i love how most of michelle’s characters, no matter how morally dubious they are, tend to be very polite and proper, and then there’s laura who will make herself a guest in your home without your knowledge or approval, raid your dead chief’s wardrobe, hurl insults at you, and just generally act like she runs the place all the while expecting you to do favors for her, as self-appointed team leader. yet despite this you could argue that she is actually the nicest

victor throwing miranda’s mental health issues in her face / lucifer throwing lilith’s lack of worthiness in her face vs. miranda punching victor square in the nose before shooting him and running over his body with his own cadillac / lilith stabbing lucifer in both of the wounds on his back, drinking his blood to regain her powers, and banishing him from both hell and her sight

i love miranda because she canonically has anger management issues but she’s also the most chill of michelle’s recent characters. much in the same way that laura’s the rudest but also the nicest, missy’s the most polite but also the most unhinged, and lilith is the most unapproachable but also the most approachable

miranda is “had a decent upbringing and loving parents up until Something Happened in her teen years and it was all down hill from there” vibes and laura is “never felt loved or accepted by her parents, probably endured some form of emotional neglect” vibes
