Being back on campus in the usual room of the geological building, it’s making me melancholy. Working on some follow up work of my MGeol, missing my friends and peers. Can’t believe four years have flown by so fast.

Now, back to work. Have a good day all :)

Results have been confirmed! 

I have a First Class MGeol degree! 

My final year thesis was a comparative petrology of various meteorite samples, which is not something I had ever thought I’d be doing. I am ecstatic.

Lazy (and slightly shitty day) turned productive!

Finally some good news. From Tuesday onwards I will be undergoing some summer work as a research assistant to one of the geology lecturers at my university. It’s paid lab work that will work out nicely for when my accommodation contract ends here. 

The money will pull me out of my overdraft and allow me to actually have some cash for personal and professional development over the summer. In a better position to leave university in than before. Phew. Can breathe easier somewhat.

Unfortunately I was unable to find any grant/research money for furthering my MGeol project or future academic work that I wanted to do. Though maybe with this money I could fund myself some more SEM/AM work instead?

Here’s hoping to get the ball rolling now. At least I will be using my time better and will be staying connected in the university’s activity, and hopefully will aid in attempting to move on to the next step somewhat.

The geo-industry job market is FUCKING crap at the moment.. Please hire me, please :3

One day more.

Last presentation of MGeol year. Last official academic and student day. From tomorrow morning I will officially have finished and become unemployed. Fantastic! Also I have an 8 minute perfect script for a 7 minute presentation. Something got to go. Bugger, what?! Night all <3

Today I submitted my MGeol thesis entitled "Monomict Eucrites: A Compatative Petrology from Scanning Electron Microscopy". Science Tip: Basics of Equipment Use

Know your sample by other comparative techniques. Why? So that when you use machinery/software after someone else (who’s too lazy to leave it in normal working conditions) you know that the data you’re getting is reasonably right. Today’s data till now has been wrong and is useless. Thank you. Start again.

Obviously I have all the time in the world.. Why was I complaining, silly…
