Deku from chapter 317... What did they do to my babyyyy 😫😫
Anyways, theres some angst deku. Hope you all like it!
All Might reaching after Deku but Deku refusing 😔😭
MLEM )P !!! He is BACK (pls don’t die) AND HE IS GORGEOUS
MHA 317 Rambles
317 was so intense, I had to ramble on it and ‘hero society’:
AFO is one who manipulates everything for his own means, he probably doesn’t really care about ‘hero society’ when it comes down to it. It’s a system like any other that he can use to his advantage if manipulated correctly.
Shigaraki and Dabi despise ‘hero society’ because it was a system that messed with their life. They seem fueled by their personal vendettas and desire for anarchy, regardless of who is hurt. They were failed by heroes want the rest of the world to also not be saved.
Stain hates ‘hero society’ for the falsities it perpetuates but respects those who are true heroes, with the drive to help others not for fame, power, or selfish reasons. The means do not justify the ends.
All Might and Deku, they are true heroes, with such a drive to help others despite the personal costs. All Might largely abandoned his own identity of Yagi Toshinori to become a hero, with what seems like the whole world not knowing any real personal details about him. Even with the fame All Might garnered through heroic deeds, it wasn’t about ‘Yagi Toshinori’ becoming famous rather it was about using that fame to perpetuate peace with the image of All Might. (Even when he thought he was dying from the abdominal injury.)
When All Might originally told Deku he couldn’t become a Hero without a quirk, I always thought he meant a Hero in ‘hero society’. I don’t think All Might was ever blind to the issues that ‘hero society’ has but worked within ‘hero society’ believing it was the most peaceful option for a majority of the population. Deku reminded him that a true hero isn’t dictated by ‘hero society’ but rather a simple ambition to help others and the unconscious will to act on that ambition. He gave Deku OFA thinking that AFO was gone, and that maybe OFA would help Deku in his desire to be a true hero. A symbol like All Might.
And now Deku is following a similar path to All Might. Going at it alone even though he doesn’t have to. Abandoning his personal life and dedicating himself to only heroics despite the personal injuries or cost. Being a hero outside the ‘hero society’ expectations. He no longer looks like the type of hero you would see on TV hero rankings. Instead he is a true hero who keeps fighting with the pure desire of protecting others, disregarding concepts like popularity and ranking. With AFO being the extreme threat he is, Deku is separating himself to protect everyone else, making himself a singular moving target.
In the end, I really hope at one point Deku is reminded that he doesn’t have to go it alone. There are heroes and friends there for him. That he isn’t just Deku, he’s also Midoriya Izuku.
MHA sketch (Spoiler 317-319,321)
HORIKOSHI HOLY SHIT!!!!!! This Deku character direction has me going crazy I won’t lie. Like, we’ve seen how obsession has corrupted characters in the past: Overhaul and his obsession with restoring the mafia has him torture a little girl; Endeavor’s obsession with surpassing All Might causes him to destroy his family; and Dabi’s current obsession leads him to murder innocent people for his gain but also is literally destroying him as he burns himself even more. And now, Deku, who is consumed with the feeling of it being his duty to stop Shigaraki and AFO, is now pushing aside the people he cares about do to him singularly focusing on this end goal. He’ll have time to fix it after, right?
Also I was going to put this in the tags but its too good, the way this completely contrasts Shigaraki is so beautiful. Shigaraki’s strong desire to destroy turned him into a messiah, an ethereal figure with white hair that glows and stigmata’s on his palms in reference to Christ. Deku’s strong desire to save that causes him to move forward no matter what is literally turning him into a demon, a beast covered in dirt, mud, and blood. An angel and a devil, but who’s who isn’t as clear cut as you would think. The imagery is just, so good.
Little spoiler: Boku no hero academia ch 317...
It's Deku's arc, yes but... another week without Bakugou...
At first I wanted him to appear in 4 weeks, just before Deku's birthday, but I decide to burry my wish cause every weeks, it's hurt not seeing him back.
So, I gonna wait, but I won't expect anymore... same goes to the rest of class 1-A
NB: Lucky Shoto! We didn't see him either in this chapter but he is mentionned (Endeavor's texts)...
