#MerMay2018 Day 10! 🐚 Much too sleepy 😴 tonight to draw but thankful I can post a #TBT instead! Here’s Posea Reef from Monster High’s Great Scarrier Reef! I can’t tell you how HaPpY I was to get a Sea character who is made up of Seaweed and sea coral approved!🌿 I originally thought of her as a Sea Witch but she was changed into more of a Sage type of character (because... you know... Witches are bad. 🙄 Whatevs) It was pretty cool that we were allowed to add Glow in the Dark pieces to our GSR characters! For Posea, we changed her sea critters that live in her Seaweed to different GITD colors for the finished doll. Goodnight 💤 😴

#MerMay Day 5, 6 and 7: Oops. I knew this would happen. Already behind on my #Mermay #drawings! 😳 To make up for this here’s a throwback to when Monster High traveled to the Great Scarrier Reef where the Ghouls met the Hydra Twins Peri and Pearl Serpentine! Their design colors were tweaked slightly over the design process but pretty close to the original concept drawing. Getting to make this 2 headed doll to actually happen was a triumph! A season before GSR, I was majorly defeated in getting a 2 headed doll approved. But a makeover to the design and the addition of an underwater theme helped make it happen. EDIT: I forgot... We had major Leadership changes. That helped make it happen too! 😉Lessons learned: NEVER GIVE UP if you truly believe you have a good idea! AND be patient! 💡😎

In honor of Friday the 13th this week for #mhmonday we celebrate Monster High’s resident pop star Catty Noir! Catty was a late add as we had the idea to celebrate Friday the 13th with an all new ghoul! Black and pink are of course iconic to MH so I wanted to play up those colors, but through in some sparkle for the ultimate in on stage wear! Catty is pretty much ears to tail metallic! From her silver bodice with shattered mirror spiderweb print with pink glitter 13 to her metallic shattered mirror boots! Her layered torn pink train features silver and pink foil to mimic mirror shards. Even her necklace is a shattered mirror! In developing her character and style I wanted to make sure to play with unlucky things but reverse it that to her are lucky! So she’s a black cat-girl who loves shattered mirrors as they bring her good luck! I was over the moon with how she turned out. The dark pink super long ponytail and the fullness and glow of her dress! You can totally imagine her closing her concert in this dress! Catty became one of my favorite characters, it was always fun to design for her. fun fact: I did Catty’s signature on the box! So it’s kinda like I signed every one! 🖤🤓

Happy #MHMonday!! It’s the first I Heart Fashion ghoul Frankie Stein! I love Frankie’s preppy goth style and her color palette is great for mixing and matching! Let’s start with a fun fact: her hairstyle is one we looked at for the signature look of Frankie! While we decided upon her black and white streaked hair, I had to bring this one back! The color palette stayed the same but the colors were switched around on a few of the items, and she lost the jacket. Which while super cute the outfits still work. Her shoes and bag also changed as we had to make sure all the tools were at the factory she was being produced at, but all of Frankie’s accessories look great so it was fun to do them in new colors. I love the actual fabric plaid tie she has! Too scary cute!! It was fun to add a touch of red into her palette as well, there is some red in her original dress plaid so wanted to play that up and it created a nice differentiation from the other Frankie’s out at the time!

Happy #MHMonday! It’s MH’s resident banshee Scarah Screams!! Designing her closet was really fun - I love her mod inspired style. I also used some of the scary cool prints from the Monster High style guides that were being used for MH branded clothing for girls! I was able to add a couple of details from the original design: the pink bow on skullette purse (from the OG Frankie!) and the black necklace additional scareccessories are always fun!. I loved getting to sculpt her new boots! And playing with all the white was really different - and it really brings out her eyes don’t you think?! 🤓 the white belt with skullette shaped buckle should go on the sparkly green dress (isn’t that fabric to die for!). But that’s also the fun of these sets to mix and match the looks! Scarah’s looks are also really useable for lots of the MH characters -her style is a little less specific so it allowed me to design some pieces that could be shared across several of the characters! Have you mixed and matched any of these pieces to give your ghouls a new look?

Happy MH Monday!!! It’s time for Clawdeen Wolf in her I🖤Fashion looks! These were really the most fun to design cause you really get to show off the characters style with 3 looks! Clawdeen comes in an outfit inspired by her OG look: quilted vest with fur collar, animal print top, ombré jeans and gold studded boots and a boom box bag in neon green! She also comes with a dress for a night out with the Ghouls with zipper and leopard print and gold and black striped straps along with her animal print spiked heels in black. And for a more casual look her wolf print sweatshirt with purple and gold shorts and purple heeled tennis shoes. #funfact I even found a scan of the black and white sketch of some of the ideas I was working on for her fashions! I love the black underlayer on her hair and her dark purple lipstick!
