The Staff of Strainwood
Mhocka and his mentor, Plautis.
In her spare time away from hunting, she grows roses and various (non-poisonous) berries. Her and Virudremesh relate over the state of opponents these days over logbooks and rosehip tea.
14, 16, and 19 for the clan asks?
- @dragonflyght-rising
14. Does your clan have any Flight ambassadors? What do they do?
Not per se, but there is a resident scout!
Mhocka travels out into the wasteland every day in search of wandering dragons. He was born into the clan and remains there, known around the residents as the one leaning most into the Plague aesthetic. His inborn genes make him look perpetually mud-caked (which he’s very proud of), so naturally, the Wasteland seem suited for him.
16. Are all dragons in the clan expected to contribute in some way? Or are they left to their own devices?
Hatchlings have no responsibilities. Travelers are only expected to do what they’re able to, there’s a lot of clemency involving tenants and work. Even the laziest dragons find that there’s not much to do if they don’t help out with at least one small task—the wasteland is fairly boring.
19. How is exalting handled in your clan? Any ceremonies? Is exalt fodder something that is part of your lore?
Exaltation isn’t a clan-made decision, dragons decide when to leave when they want to. While there aren’t any ceremonies, leaving dragons will be personally celebrated by the friends they made in the sanctuary, and at least one of the staff.
‘Fodder’ are any dragons who are taking shelter in the clan as a midway point to their journeys to exaltation. Hatchlings recovered by or given to the clan’s scouts are raised by the clan’s caretakers. After then is when they decide how they’ll stay or go.
for the not so nice asks- how about 2 and 7 for Mhocka?
(also, how do you say his name? mm-hawk-ah? mah-ka? mocha??)
@dragonflyght-rising
2. What is the thing they feel the most guilty about?
Mhocka (pronounced ‘mah-ka’) is occasionally struck by the tragedy of finding abandoned, rotting nests in the desolate expanse. Or, he will stumble across fresh victims of the cruel wasteland, sometimes only a few hours late. His nimbleness is the only quality he finds his diminutive size redeemable by, and when he feels like it fails him, he’s broken by it.
7. What feature (physical or otherwise) do they hate most about themselves?
He’s most ashamed of his size, being the smallest of his siblings (Choppa and Ingol, who are much bulkier and over twice his height due to their breed).
He adores the elegance and agility that comes with being a Skydancer and wouldn’t trade it for being anything other, but he still aches to have had the chance to play with his siblings without risking broken ribs. He wished he could test his strength with his father, and hold his mother with the same strength as his love. With both of his parents being Obelisks (his birth mother having disappeared before he could remember her), Mhocka struggles to appear as anything more than the most fragile of his family. He can still be carried wholly in his mother’s arms, which while being something he loves, is not something he’s proud of.
