“so,” he began, voice calm, eyes questioning, “let me get this completely straight.” jasper had already heard the request, but he felt as though he needed to make absolutely sure the other was prepared to face what it meant. clasping his fingertips together in a thoughtful position, the broker began summing up.

“you want me to use my quirk to find someone. you’re not quite sure who, but you know you’ve seen this person before?” looking for people wasn’t an uncommon request, but the way his client was being vague about it, way too vague, worried jasper. 

“i’m gonna be straight with you, hellfire, i don’t think this is a good idea.” honestly it was very rare for jasper to deny a request, especially one that let him indulge in his quirk, but putting a hero in danger never looked good on the cv. “your memories seem to be so vague that i’m not even sure where to even begin looking. if i’m not careful i could end up hospitalising you from blood loss or worse.” maybe it was also because he quite liked this guy -- someone he could relate to in terms of being an outlier when it came to hero work. both possessing quirks that did not gain the public approval for heroism. “of course if you still insist even after i’ve told you this, then i suppose i’ll try but... just be careful okay?”

Shik stood in shock at the carnage of their restaurant. In only an hour it had been laid to waste, all of Shik’s livelihood—gone. The chef felt numb, but under the surface they could feel something forming. Even as they watched fire fighters, heroes, sidekicks, and police doing their respective jobs as best they could, Shik couldn’t help but distantly think how useless they’d all been in saving their home.

Especially one hero in particular. They looked over to the hero in question—Hellfire. Shik knew him, a frequent customer of Shaping Plates. Shik always joked how they wanted to hire the hero for their kitchen because Hellfire’s quirk could make amazing smoked dishes. Now, though, Shik wanted Hellfire to be swallowed by his own flames.

Just like he’d done to Shik’s Shaping Plates.

“Seong Shik, owner of the restaurant and residence that was burnt?” Shik looked up at the officer, their usual smile nowhere to be found.

“Yes, that’s me.”

“I just need to ask you a few questions. My first is do you know what caused the fire?”

Shik, shock still keeping their mind hazy (is this what people who are under their quirk feel like?) felt a moment of clarity at the question. Villain. A villain had visited Shik’s restaurant. The fire. It was them. That villain started the fire, took everything, because they wanted revenge for a hit Shik did for another client. They left something… Shik turned to the smoking cinders of Shaping Plates.

“Um…I forgot to turn off the stove…I think. Yes. I left the stove on. Silly me.”

a troublesome deal.

haneul was by no means a kind soul. oh no, he was definitely not. sure he was playing hero right now, but that’s because he was committed to a lie that would be more troublesome to reveal than not. that’s why when max had asked him to help in his whole quirk issues, he only decided to go along with it if they had a deal made ( two dinners for one session so far, because free food was always the way to go ) and why he’s putting out his tablet and playing the latest episode of rupaul’s drag race: the canadian edition. 

“alright dude, what do you want me to do? nothing too strenuous or shit right? i can just chill and watch my show on the side?“ he questioned the sidekick, gesturing to his tablet to show he was very much ready to simply relax the whole time he was assisting the other.

he was completely ready for this. and by this, he meant to just lay down and watch his show in peace. no  matter what he was assigned to do, he already vowed he was going to do nothing but live his best life and won’t be stopped.this was the amount of effort he was willing to put in for two dinners.
