The worst part for me during chapter six, the cowboy sorrows aside, is selling your horses before the final mission.

I remember my first playthrough and the sheer panic I had after that chapter, wondering what happened to the rest of my horses, and I sprinted to the nearest stables as John only to find that it was completely empty.

So from then onward, I made sure to treat and cherish and give my horses a proper goodbye before they're handed over to the next person.

And who knows, maybe that person will love my horses as much as I did.
