Uee listened to the newest voicemail on her mobile a few times; five, in fact,  before deleting it from sight and letting out a heavy sigh.  Another week had passed, and the uncomfortable back and forth communications between her and her hot-and-cold ex hadn't officially ended.  As much as she knew that fixing things with him wouldn't change how their relationship had been, or ended, she always felt a slight pang of hope in her chest when he would call, or text.

Unfortunately for her, this hope was usually crushed within the first few moments of their conversation, and she would immediately wonder why she had even bothered to answer the phone.  

Today, she had watched as the screen on her mobile lit up when he had called; once.. twice.. three times, before leaving that voicemail.  This was her one feeble attempt to be strong, and though her heart was screaming, "pick it up!! what if he wants you back this time?", she didn't move an inch.  The truth was, as much as she had loved him, there had been too much pain between the two of them for anything to ever be fixed.  Turning her phone over so that the screen was hidden from view, she let out another sigh as she placed her head in her hands.
