Yakumo was exhausted. He was going to sleep for a solid two days once they got back to the base, after he fistfought Louis and Mia for the right to shower first, and then maybe he would drag himself to go make some food and act like a human again. This Cathedral was heinous, infested with Lost, and he was absolutely done with this place two days ago. But between Aiden and Louis… He glanced over, the line of Louis' back hunched and tense as he stood in front of the altar that held his sister. She was like some pure maiden, lashed to a pulpit in hopes of appeasing whatever cruel god that might listen, her hands clasped in prayer that she would not wake from. She looked stable, at least, but the sheer amount of blood beads that hung from the branches around her made him leery of assuming. That much power, it was like a shimmer in the air, a thickening of the pressure that made the hairs on the back of his neck rise — and some part of his now-immortal bones knew that he was treading into the realm beyond even death. An immortal among immortals, Aurora had said, her voice hushed and thick with misery and condemnation. A creature she and Karen had helped create, and now they both held a piece Cruz's body inside their own as living coffins, not even able to give Cruz the dignity of a burial. Yeah. No wonder they could all hear Louis choking back tears.
