it’s almost ad20 and i need to prepare at least one new illustration AND IM OUT. OF FUCKING. IDEAS.

well at least there’s time to prep the sticker sheet i guess. I was only given 2 days at best to draw and to print out A5 artprints for ad19 and boy was i stressed to meet the deadline.

i had some ideas in mind on what to draw next but the only real problem was how to elevate the cinematic vibes from the original material and compress it into one single illustration without ruining the characterization entirely.

Scrolling through reddit today because I accidentally stumbled across a post tallying up all the James Bond references in Hitman, and I hate that the only reason these people seem to despise Absolution (besides the gameplay) is because they want 47 to remain this archetypal gritty villain with the stereotypical Cold War-era backstory, and not someone who's capable of saving lives and, more importantly, wants to save lives. Oh so we're just gonna ignore the tiny tidbits of him yearning to have a normal life, him having Diana as his moral compass, the trauma he carries from his past with the asylum doctors, and how he sees echoes of his younger self in Victoria? Oh okay so let's just flatten him back into an emotionless weapon, exactly the way everyone in-universe has always treated him. I know yall redditors have very low media literacy but i seriously didnt expect yall to skip the entirety of WOA.

He's incredibly intelligent, meticulous, and fully capable of planning several steps ahead, yes, but none of that makes him immune to other people's smart plays. This man was jabbed by Diana in BM, who, again, in WOA, walked straight into that olive grove to meet Diana without noticing the enemies lying in wait around him, and while yes you may argue that it is only because he lowers his guard around Diana, but 47 CAN make mistakes because of emotional attachments. He's not some kind of untouchable machine yall make him out to be. He's a trained assassin but he is STILL a human. If the idea of vulnerability "ruins" his character then yall completely missed the entire tragedy of his character.

damnation literally talks about how he deals with depression and his substance abuse AND THEN we have absolution which discusses him dealing with his identity and how he copes with it by self-harming ALL THE WHILE wanting to do something about Victoria--as he wants to spare her the life he has. The game TALKS about he having agency over what he considers his identity as a cloned assassin, about him being able to do something about it and preventing it from happening, not just his identity as a cloned assassin alone. Yall failed to look pass his character as a clone and hence, failed to see him as human and it's pathetic as fuck

This one side of Hitman fanboys want 47 to be a constantly cold, sociopathic killer machine. They don't care about his character developement, they don't want him to be human. All they do is post corny phonk edits on TikTok and nag. Most of them don't give a single crap about the lore of Hitman and yet speak about it confidently and think that they know the characters better than anyone, despite skipping all the cutscenes and dialouge when playing. (Also - they don't give a single fuck about Diana's role in the story and in 47's life. I once saw a comment stating that Agent Smith (no hate to him, he's cool) is the closest thing 47 has to a friend, which is simply not true. Devs and voice actors themselves said it several times that this person is Diana!)

Yes, Absolution's story line isn't the best one to exist, but it doesn't mean it has no potencial. I like to believe that 47 got caught in Dexter's and Skurky's traps because he was emotionally (and even with his durability and stamina – physically) exhausted: focused on surviving on his own, the ICA being after him, guilt of "killing" Diana, and keeping the promise to look out for Victoria. In this state, it is normal for him to not perform his best and have some slip-ups.

As you said here, and quoting Diana - "no one is untouchable". It aplies to 47 as well. He is the best in the world, but he is still human.

I relate to the fact how alienated 47 feels - like he doesn't belong in this world - so it really hurts to see him being so frequently mischaracterised by his own fans.

And I bet that those guys are the same people who, for example, are crying in the comments under the trailer of God Of War Laufey that they won't play as Kratos but as "some middle aged mom" (did they play the previous games with their eyes closed or what...?).

One day I'll sit my ass down and write a complaint about this fandom because I swear, they make me foam at the mouth. I plan on reading both Hitman novels and giving my feedback. I found one of them online for free, but it's a translation to my native language, so I don't know how well it holds.

i personally never felt like 47 was ever an emotionless weapon. he has a lot of moments in just the third game alone that proves hes very much human with a sense of (dark) humor. i mean, come on! dont tell me you guys didnt catch the name play. tobias REAPER? and his awkward but funny adlibs when confronting his targets. racer girl goes "wait, belladonna? shouldn't i be worried?" and hes just like "im not", LMAO. and the guy who tries to trade him a guitar so he doesnt shoot him and hes just like "no", *pew*

the guy has LOTS of hobbies, mainly for blending in, but the point is that he does something with his time other than playing musical chairs with guns in the dark all day and probably ENJOYS some of them

he has moments of vulnerability, has moments of doubt and genuine fear

i think hes damn good at giving people advice (peep the scene with the girl in the rain when he was talking about 'picking up the tab')

and call me fucking bonkers for this random bit, but i also think hed make a *really* good dad 😌 (NOBODY would mess with that kid)

yk sometimes i think about how the ICA logo is based on the MI5 logo, and it makes me wonder if the organization itself was meant to be some kind of off-the-books venture between MI5 and maybe other intelligence agencies (funny how MI6 got treated like any other clients despite the nature of the relationship lol.)

which also got me thinking that MI6 would’ve probably tried to recruit 47 at some point. yeah he’s a professional contract killer first and foremost, but you can’t tell me his espionage skills aren’t just as insane. with how good he is at infiltration, disguises, blending in, gathering intel, etc., he’d honestly make a great undercover agent in the same vein as Bond.

though idk if he’d actually be a good fit for the 00 program. he’s way more of a lone wolf and seems to prefer working with as little company or supervision as possible, so i feel like the ICA’s way of operating suits him a lot more than MI6’s
