Many artists have dreamt of becoming a star but aren’t willing to put in the work that comes with it. The sleepless nights and dedication it takes to perfect your craft is something everyone isn’t willing do to. Mia LJ is a perfect example of an artist who knows it takes years of hard work to become a household name. With her new EP approaching “These are the Years” Mia has been preparing and writing this project between the ages of 13 and 17 well before the recording process. Writing is something that has been a natural and unplanned process for Mia. Melodies will often pop into her head and that will trigger her to start the creative process. Recording this EP was a great experience says Mia. She collaborated with the talented producer 24 year old Anthony Tansosch. Ironically, they lived on the same street for over a decade but never crossed paths until October of 2015. Another ironic similarity, both left high school at the young age of 16. They were able to create opportunities in their youth which allowed them to pursue music full time by their transitional period into adulthood. Focus, consistency, and patience are the three things that were vital for Mia while creating this project. Although she is young the discipline she had to detach herself from the public and friends over the past few years in order to fully dedicate herself to this EP is admirable. It weighed on her mentally to constantly be in go mode and think about all the projects she’d have to execute in a timely manner. Being a teenager it was hard for Mia to take herself out of that mindset. Most teens are partying and hanging with friends every night but Mia knew if she wanted this project to be the best it could be that wasn’t going to help her in the process. Being a full time college student (16 YO) allowed her to experiment within a different realm of life that she didn’t even know existed. It gave her freedom and helped her discover who she was. Currently working full time Mia books her weeks and months in advance with brand photo shoots, recording sessions, and prep for shows, and tours etc. She has noted how important it is to be consistent when it comes to the sound and arrangements of the music she creates. Working every day from the crack of dawn to the wee hours of the night is a key to the continued progression of self and music. With the support and amazing opportunities that come her way Mia realizes that this is only motivation for her to work harder to reach the peak of her success. Needless to say, this young woman is not planning on slowing down any time soon. I’m very excited to listen to Mia’s EP out worldwide March 29th! I have a feeling this young star will be making even more headlines very soon.
“This is why I will never allow myself to lose focus, ease up on consistent work, or stop reminding myself to be patient as I know the things I desire in life take tons of time and hard work to obtain.” – Mia LJ
