Hey fellow UK people
Here are two climate change-related actions you can take if like me you are absolutely livid at how little progress there has been and is still being even with parts of the UK literally on fire right now...
An open letter from Tipping Point to Miatta Fahnbulleh (newly appointed UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero) that you could sign. https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/open-letter-to-the-rt-hon-miatta-fahnbulleh-mp?source=direct_link&
A donation page for a new campaign by the Good Law Project (who are just generally excellent - they are doing a lot for trans rights at the moment too just now <3 ) to get Andy Burnham to fucking take Climate Change seriously, esp. in the wake of the wildfires everywhere. https://goodlawproject.org/s/842e2c
No pressure, but if you're able to sign 1 and/or donate to 2, that'd be marvellous. And I hope you're all staying safe and a good temperature for you!
Also a reminder to please please please boycott all gen AI if you aren't doing so already; AI data centres have a frighteningly high impact on energy use, water use, and emissions, and the whole industry raises money for precisely the kind of people who we all need to stop getting wealthier. Think of it (and of all these actions!) as spiting billionaires, if that's a useful motivator for you. ;-)
