I had never listened to this recording until today. I'm a huge fan of the OBCR, and familiar, fond of Bailey's and Martin's respective recordings, and just didn't see the necessity of a recording with a 197 year old Channing.
Color me stupid. Whatever demerits Channing's AARP status may bring (which are few) are outweighed by how GLORIOUS and CLEAR this recording is! Listen to that orchestra! And it sounds like a cast of thousands! And hellooooooo Michael DeVries.
Hey Mike...
I remember coming into grade 9 and seeing you in homeroom on my first day. Within 5 minutes, I could tell you were full of fire and life. You made everyone that was around you laugh; you were contagious. The first three years of highschool were both lame and exciteing and you made it alot more bareable. I don't think I ever you saw you without a smile which is exactly how i'm going to always remember you. Years after I saw you now and then and you never changed; i'm kind of happy for that. You did some crazy things, I can admit that, but you had such faith which truly makes me believe you're in a better place...
