Andiamo indietro a ravanare di un po’ di anni, per trovare qualche produzione degna di nota - nel mediocre limbo generato dai vari Amazon film, Netflix, ecc, non per spalare merda sui soliti noti, ma tant’è - possibilmente in Europa e fuori dai circuiti mainstream, e troviamo forse uno tra i migliori film carcerari di sempre. Siamo nel 2007 ed è appena uscito Michael Inside, flick irlandese diretto da Frank Berry, alla sua terza prova dietro la mdp; il realismo con cui vengono presentati i fatti (un giovane arrestato per aver “tenuto” la droga di uno spacciatore locale dentro casa come un favore che non avrebbe comunque potuto negargli) è estremo, la recitazione perfetta e l’occhio del narratore imparziale e distante mentre segue, passo dopo passo, la discesa nell’inferno. Le istituzioni ci sono e sono anche decenti, ma la vita è più forte di ogni assistente sociale e ti aspetta al varco di ogni tua “buona azione”. Solo l’Europa è capace di esprimere questi talenti, teniamocela stretta finché dura.
