Prince w/ Sheena Easton - U Got The Look (Official Music Video now on You Tube!) and who is Steve Purcell.
So I started the week wondering: Who is Steve Purcell and why is he doing a Prince documentary? If you wondered the same thing, here are some answers.
The question arose when a new video clip popped up on Vimeo:
First of all, Purcell was the editor of the video above U Got The Look for which he received an MTV Video Music Award nom in 1988. The video got a total of 4 noms and won 2: "Best Male Video" & "Best Stage Performance in a Video" (1988). Of course.
Mr. Purcell has another major Prince connection. He was the film editor of P’s great Sign ‘o’ the Times concert film (as Steve Percell).
He is also credited as editor on several more Prince videos per IMDb:
So it’s not clear to me if Purcell is working on his own Prince documentary, which--judging from the footage and his association w/ P--would be amazing. Or is he editing (co-producing?) the Michael Kirk docu, Prince: R U Listening? which is apparently still finishing production (or looking for a distributor?) since the original due date of Q2, 2017 has come and gone.
Anyone know anything more? Excited to see what comes next...
