BIOGRAPHY:
Born as the son of a wealthy politician for a father and a debutante for a mother, Michael seemingly grew up to have it all. He grew up in an upper class gated community, went to prestigious private schools, and even showed promise as an athletic scholar, duet both his impressive grades and fondness of sports. But life for him wasn’t as great as it seemed.
You see, he was frequently overlooked by his own family, despite being the only child of them. His mother, Amelia Krest, was a vain and narcissistic woman, only giving her son the bare minimum of attention while she, herself, spent most of her free time scouring the malls or making appearances at any social function she could worm her way into attending. If anything, Michael’s nanny was more of a mother than she even came close to being. His father wasn’t much better. Sure, he paid his son slightly more attention, but he was constantly at the office or out of town, either for business or to see a mistress or two. All while placing pressure on Michael to prove that he deserved the love and attention of his parents.
But for the sake of appearances for their society and peers, they appeared to be the perfect family with the perfect son.
Around his last year of high school, he finally caved under the pressure and began to act out. While he kept up with his grades and sports, he began to spend less time at home, not that his parents noticed, of course. He spent nights out in the city, exploring the gritty parts of DC that someone of his background normally wouldn’t even set foot in. That’s where he met Veronica.
Veronica had a look that screamed trouble. An unkempt appearance with dark, choppy hair and a penchant for dark clothing, she was clearly the opposite of Michael. And everything he needed. She helped him navigate the city and taught him about the places he should definitely avoid wandering into and taught him how to have fun. Pretty soon, like one would expect, they began to deeply care for eachother. Soon after his graduation, much to the shock of his parents, he left his wealthy life to start a fresh one with Veronica, working small jobs to support them both.
His parents were furious that he was ‘selfishly ruining’ their ‘picture perfect’ life, and cut him off financially as soon as he made it clear he wasn’t going to live up to their expectations. Despite this, the pair did rather well for themselves.
When they turned 21, they got married, having a small courthouse wedding, but they were still happy and together. Their family began to grow, three years later, when they found out Veronica was expecting their first child together. It was tough for them to maintain their lives financially, but they managed. Several months later, when the baby was ready to be born, there was some health complications with the birth. The baby was born, a beautiful baby girl named Emily, but Veronica didn’t make it, having suffered a heart attack soon after.
In despair and not sure what to now as a new father and a widower, he reached his old nanny, fondly called Nana, for help to get him through the pain of losing his wife and the new stress of being a single father as well. And like a mother should, she readily helped him.
Moving into his apartment, Nana helped Michael emotionally get back on his feet and raise Emily. It didn’t take long before they noticed something strange about the little girl. As she got older, she began to do things out of the ordinary. By out of ordinary, meaning things definitely not found in any child development book. Something he tried to deny until one night, when she was around two years old, he witnessed her float out of her crib and definitely causing him and Nana to have a small panic attack.
Nana heard legends of such a thing, but never saw it in person. To test her theory, she pricked Emily’s finger and noticed that the familiar and expected sight of red blood was replaced by silver blood. Emily was a Silver.
Michael was definitely confused because he knows that his blood and Veronica’s blood was normal, but there’s always the possibility that it skipped a generation on Veronica’s side of the family, but they don’t know for certain and would likely never know. All they knew was that this knowledge would mean trouble if it got out. No longer feeling safe in DC, they came up with a plan to move back to Nana’s home town of Kingsholm, Norway. Naturally he was reluctantly to pack up everything and begin a new life once again, but he would do anything for young Emily.
Unable to afford to bring Nana along, Michael and Emily moved to Norway and started their new life, far from everything they once knew.
Michael Krest is portrayed by Chace Crawford.
