Mountain Peaks Beyond the Trees (Yoho National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking from a place parked along the road, I was headed up to a place to walk around Emerald Peak lake. Then I spotted Michael Peak seemingly rising behind some nearby trees with clouds swirling all around. Given what I imagined was a large dynamic range with the highlights and shadows in this setting, I had to find a point to meter and focus the image properly. I decided on some trees just beyond some nearby ones that were kind of in the shadows but still had some light from the skies above. I was then able to later bring out more details in the swirling clouds above as well as the layers and striations on the mountainside.
