Bird (1988). The troubled life and career of jazz musician Charlie "Bird" Parker.

Unique both in terms of its approach to the bio pic and in terms of Clint Eastwood's generally fairly predictable directorial style. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it overall - it's definitely too long, and there are sequences that fail in how they're delivered, but at the same time, there are emotional beats that really land, in no small part due to an incredible performance from Forest Whitaker. Plus, as a love song to jazz, it feels pretty undeniable. Interesting film that's worth the watch, especially if you're a fan of the genre. 7/10.
