Sometimes wildfires spread nuclear waste and runoff btw
Personally, I can't go outside right now! because not only is there a wildfire (any wildfire smoke you can smell is smoke that can affect you, and fires spread a lot of toxins), BUT ALSO the places I live near that happen to be on fire right now me are the canyons that were used as a secret toxic nuclear waste dump for decades!!
In general, living near a nuclear reactor (or former mine, or former test site, or weapons manufacturing site, etc.) is a lot less safe than most governments would like you to believe, not necessarily because of failing safety procedures, but because the US military and defense companies spent decades secretly dumping and burning radioactive waste (from both nuclear reactors and nuclear weapons experiments), especially in the 1940s to 1970s
Here's the most extreme case I know about:
The former site of Boeing and NASA's Santa Susanna Field Laboratory, which is about two miles outside the north-west border of Los Angeles. Boeing is currently trying to get out of paying millions and millions of dollars for a true cleanup of the radiation and turn the contaminated sites into a radioactive public park instead. (source)
Do not come in the notes to yell at me or accuse me of lying about the dangers of nuclear. I lost my grandfather to this shit, and could have lost my mom as well.
This shit has been confirmed by Boeing's own reports and multiple US government legal rulings. If you're skeptical, check out the website advocacy organization for this contamination site, which has good sourcing, a lot of well-cited radiation data and cancer statistics, and a lot of nice big graphs and maps to illustrate the point.
You know what? I'm sick of it.
I'm sick and tired of pretending I don't want to float in
✨Cherenkov radiation✨
Look at that shit, it's perfect. I bet it feels amazing on the skin and organs. I bet it revitalises the pores. I bet it tastes incredible.
Don't listen to authorities, look at that colour, nothing that pretty could be bad for you.
I want the forbidden swim.
The jarley gets an education….
Which event sounds the most made up (they all happened)
That time Boston, Massachusetts got flooded by molasses and 21 people died 1919)
That time a Roman emperor declared war on the ocean (40AD)
That time a Boy Scout built a nuclear reactor in his backyard (1994)
That time a bunch of people randomly started to dance till they died (1518)
That time a guy blew up a whale and caused guts/blood to rain from the sky 1970)
Once Australia declared war on a breed of bird that are possibly from hell 1932
I made this poll a long time ago but I wanted to do it again cause it be fun
EDIT) I have another post with some short horribly explained summaries explaining these if you are interested.
