I started buying VHS movies and biographical books with money from my first job at 16. She was the subject of my high school term paper. Why? I can say she's beautiful, but I can say that about many. I can say she's talented, but so are others. I can claim that her involvement with political figures adds intrigue, but she's not the first. Or that her tragic, if not mysterious death puts her above the rest, but then again this is Hollywood after all. The truth is that if I could pinpoint why Marilyn Monroe is the greatest star of all time, she probably wouldn't be. People like her defy explanation, and certainly defy logic. They are magnets with a gravitational pull that spin us into their orbit. They are the greatest because we can't put into words what we feel in our hearts.
