You just walked out of the bathroom after you had a calming shower. The work had been really stressing lately and when it finally slowed down, you let yourself enjoy a moment alone, without work.
With your bathrobe on your shoulders you kept walking in your house. The beautiful feeling you had at that moment was something you had been missing for some time by then and you were ready to jump into your bed and watch some calming romantic film with a glass of wine.
When you arrived to your bedroom and you saw your bed, you sighed. Remembering of that you had to call your boss and talk to her about your working shedule, you just took your phone into your hands and tried to find her number which was hiding in between all of those numbers you had.
When you finally found a number which was named “Julie”, you immediately hit the green button and put your phone to your ear. You waited for the woman to pick it up and until she did so, you were thinking about what would you tell her.
“Yes?” you heard her ask from the other side and you smiled a litte.
“Hello, it´s me, Y/n.”
“Yeah, I know it is you,” Julie said and you heard a quiet chuckle which was a little off for some reason. “What´s wrong?”
“I am calling because of that schedule you told me,” you said honestly and heard some doors shut. And then a gasp followed. “Julie are you okay?” You frowned even if she couldn´t see that and turned around.
“Yes of course,” she said but you had a reason why you didn´t believe her. And that reason was her husband. Some muffled sound filled your ear and you could tell it was a sob.
“Julie has he done anything?” You asked straightly and Julie let out a shaky breath. “Julie?”
“He has.”
“What has he...”
“Can I come over?” she asked you and you closed your eyes.
“Of course. I will prepare a bed for you. Or should I go and pick you up?” You asked everything what was on your mind.
“I will be there in twenty minutes. Thank you so much.” She said and you had a feeling of that she wanted to end the call.
“Julie!”
“Yeah?” she asked you before ending the call and you exhaled.
“Be careful,” you told her into the phone and then Julie promised you she will be careful. You ended the call and started preparing the bed for her. That she was coming over and that Michael hurt her could mean that she was staying for the night.
You prepared everything Julie might need and then you walked into the kitchen. When you looked out of the window, you saw her car parking in front of your house. Julie stepped out of the car, hiding her face. You immediately knew that he slapped her or something even worse.
Walking over to the doors, you opened them in the same second she stepped to them and you looked at her face. She uncovered her cheek and when you saw that it was pretty red and already bruised, you were afraid how would it go if she returned there.
“Julie-”
“I told him I want him to leave now, after the divorce. And then he-” Julie started talking and her own sob cut her off. You gently pulled her inside of your house and closed the doors behind her.
“Come here,” you whipered and pulled her onto your chest, into a warm hug she seemed to need. Julie hugged you from under your armpits and rested her chin on your shoulder, letting out a sob.
“I don´t want to return there,” she whispered and sobbed again. “I don´t want to go back there-”
“Julie, you don´t have to return,” you reminded her of the fact that her kids already lived alone and Julie pulled away.
“Y/n I have to. I don´t have any money to buy anything because he took it from me.”
“Then you will live here. I have enough rooms and if you stay, he will never find out where are you,” you tried to comfort her and then you sighed. “Julie you have nothing to do with him anymore, you are divorced and you have a place to stay.”
“What if he finds out?” she asked you and you shook your head.
“First of all, it is none of his bussiness. And second of all, if he finds out and comes here, I will call the cops and tell them about everything he has ever done to you,” you added, making Julie look at you.
“You would do that?”
“Julie, remember what I told you some time ago?” You asked her this time and Julie narrowed her eyes.
“Yeah?”
“I meant it. If you want to and you feel safe here, stay. If you need any help with your husband, my half-brother is a cop,” you told her and Julie took a deep breath, looking you into your eyes.
“Thank you so much.” Julie said only and you waited, because you saw that she wanted to say something else as well. “So... can I stay for a day?”
“You can stay until you would like to,” you told her with a little smile and then looked at Julie´s cheek. “If you would like to, here is a-” you stopped talking and opened a wardrobe, “here is a towel. Bathroom is in those doors. I will go and get you some clothes.”
Julie smiled at you and took the towel from you. You saw how she swallowed and then she turned around, walking into the doors you just told her were the bathroom ones.
Not worrying about her anymore, you walked inside of your bedroom and took out some clothes she could wear. You just hoped in that you two were the same size and then you picked up sweatpants and some shirt. You couldn´t imagine Julie wearing those clothes, but you took them anyways and walked to the bathroom she just disappeared in.
“I brought you some clothes,” you informed her after knocking and Julie opened the doors for you. She had a towel wrapped around her body and you realized that her arms were bruised. With a deep breath, you handed her the clothes and when Julie turned around to place them onto the sink, you saw a part of her back. “Jul-”
“Yes?”
“Are you in pain?” You asked her something what was really obvious and Julie swallowed.
“A little,” she admitted and you closed your eyes.
“If you would like, there is a creme in the cupboard under the sink,” you told her and Julie looked at you. You walked inside of the bathroom and took the creme out, putting it down onto the sink.
“Is it that bad?”
“It is bad,” you told her honestly and Julie looked at you through the mirror. “If you want to, I can do this for you,” you said and took the creme. Julie just nodded her head without any word and she unwrapped her body, holding the towel on her breasts.
Your eyes widened when you saw her back. There were purple, green and black bruises on her skin and you tried to hold back your crying. Opening the little creme, you took some onto your fingers and took a deep breath, knowing that it would hurt the woman who was standing in front of you.
“It will hurt,” you warned her and waited for a response.
“Okay,” she said and you softly applied the creme onto her back, hearing her hissing. You qiuetly apologized and went even softer on her, trying to help her with the bruises her husband left on her body.
When you were done, you closed the little creme and put it onto it´s place in the bathroom. Julie dressed up while you weren´t looking and when you turned back to see her, she had a bathrobe covering her shoulders already.
“I´ll leave you alone now. If you need anything, I will be in the bedroom okay? Here are the clothes,” you said and showed her what you brought her.
“Thank you,” she said only and kept the eye contact with you until you didn´t look away and walked out of the bathroom.
