February 28, 1967: In Mississippi, 19 people were indicted in the triple murder of 3 civil rights workers (Andrew Goodman, Michael Schwerner, James Chaney) in 1964. Samuel H. Bowers and 6 others were eventually convicted on federal charges in 1970.
