A little more on the ava's demon update and Maggie
I think Maggie can be that type of self-hater that's eager for love and external validation, but as soon as she has someone liking her, she dumps them.
Because liking her devalues the person's worth in her eyes. "I'm bad, I'm disgusting, and if you like me, it means you are stupid and have a poor taste in people". So she can't respect this person anymore. And that's how their admiration becomes useless. She even tends to purposely hurt anyone who shows her affection.
Why do I think so?
We know that Maggie has a couple of exes. To be accurate, FIVE of them who she considered a perfect fit for herself previously.
She's 15, she studies in a boarding school where's not so many people around. She had ~4 years of time and 5 people who she liked a lot.
And she had time to get to know them at least a little and then ruin their relationship. I know teens are living in a different timeline than adults, but it's pretty fast anyway! She has no tinder, no summer camps. Meeting new people is not an easy task in a place where she was living, I suppose. And forming a connection under the pressure of the system that strictly controls where you go, what you do and what you know every day and every hour of your life is not easy too. I'm pretty sure that TITAN doesn't encourage relationships between students. Gil was completely ALONE on a whole planet so he could study... Remember?
(I'm pretty sure he had a special treatment, actually. But anyway, doesn't seem like he had a lot of socializing events in his life even before that)
So Maggie is a real social butterfly. And she moves on pretty quickly. And it's easier if you just cross the person off as soon as they start to like you back.
Furthermore, Maggie despises people who showed her affection during the plot. It's Ava and Odin.
She wasn't right about Odin having a crush on her, but she saw it like that. And she wasn't just cocky because he has a speaking issue. She was angry about him showing any interest in her, I guess. Odin did not really do anything to her to make her so angry.
And whatever she had with Ava, Maggie is pretty mean to her in terms of Ava's romantic feelings, too.
For a person who's so into romance, she finds unrequited love too shameful, actually. "Pathetic".
Both Ava and Odin were sent to the dumpster fire by Mag not only because of their actions (Odin was actually saving her life! She knew it if she wasn't so arrogant and focused on an idea that he likes her and that's why he's after her), but because Maggie considers them people who like her romantically. So they are nothing but dumb - how they didn't notice that she was bad and did not deserve love?
It's a twisted logic, but that's what happens to people sometimes. Self-hatred is merciless.
And as Gil seems uninterested, Maggie is on the game. She wants him badly as long as he's unreachable. But if she gets him... Well, then it means nothing. If I, the pathetic person I hate, achieved The Thing, it means that anyone can do it, so it's easy and unimportant. If you ever had low self-esteem, you know how it works.
Girl. You will never find someone perfect for you. You are the perfect one for yourself. You should discover this before you can appreciate another person's love for you.
