State Theatre, South Bend, IN. Photos from a Michiana History group on Facebook. Several groups have tried to revive this place over the years. The last one actually made a good effort...and then the place was confiscated by the state because they also forgot to pay property taxes.
I used to go here (after closing once in 1977, it reopened from 1994-1997), watching everything from Bugs Bunny to The Lion King in full on 1940s style velvet-ish seats.
The good (hopefully) news: someone else is trying to renovate it.
Not getting my hopes up until I've been there twice though.
