BL manga that has changed my life shaped my writing/taste
• Nakamura Asumiko "Dokyuusei" series.
I love love love Kusakabe and Sajou, and I am lucky to read in Japanese decently enough to own all the original manga.
Nakamura sensei is amazing with writing nice sweet stories or completely unhinged psychological dramas like "Double Mints" or "The Inheritance of Aroma".
• Isaku Natsume "Ameiro Paradox"
Two paparazzi are trying their best to get the scoop and fall in love in the process. It has amazing banter. Isaku-sensei is a master of situational comedy and her wordplays are great too.
• Nekota Yonezou "Michiru Heya"
As a Catholic school graduate myself I'm a sucker for some Catholic school drama. Here we have everything, brave Uke, amazingly beautiful Seme and just a heartbreaking story.
• Hagio Moto "Zankokuna Kami ga Shihai suru"
This is "Killing Stalking" of my time, definitely not a manga to read for smut scenes. It is tragic, the art style is amazing and it should probably go with an A4 sheet long list of trigger warnings. But I have read it until the end and I wasn't disappointed.
• Miyamoto Kano "Nemureru Tsuki"
This is truly amazing. For those who want to experience Japanese Gothic, staying over in an old Wa-fu style mansion, meeting your good-looking ancestor at the light of the moon and uncovering a story of a gruesome curse that haunts the mansion.
• Inariya Furamosuke "Hyakujitsu no Bara"
This manga is problematic a classic of "I love you so much I shall ravish you when I please" trope. However I can't stop loving it. It is an ultimate war story, a tale of devotion, duty and passion.
Of course there is a lot more other wonderful manga out there. But that is what I read and loved back in my day 🥰
