Ray is kryptonian and was meant to be this Earths Superman but when his parents found his pod they used thier discovery for science not wanting anyone to work out where they came up with tings like a new energy source they found a way to block Rays powers. Ray now uses his humour and optimism as a shield to hide the fact that his parents were a bit cold and distant with him and he's suppressed his memories of being experimented on. Cut to present and the device is damaged and his powers start to emerge plus his traumatic memories. Mick is the one who helps him deal with his past trauma while also starting to freak out that Ray keeps putting himself in more and more dangerous situations to test the new limits of his body and powers!

Atomwave Carnival/Freak Show Au!

Mick Rory didn’t think he was ever gonna get far in life especially since his only talent was thieving and his body was covered in horrible scars from being caught in a fire as a child. This was when the carnival rolled into town and convinced him that his scars would make him a great attraction for the show and he could use his talents to pick the pockets of the audience and make some extra cash.

This all changed when the owner of the carnival revealed his secret attraction in the form of a real life caught Angel named Ray. Yet despite being caged and put on display Ray lived up to his name as a literal Ray of sunshine and was the most beautiful man Mick had ever seen. Mick would sneak off to talk to this angel that somehow looked past Micks, scars, thieving and gruff personality to the man underneath it. To make sure Ray could fly away his wings where plucked and kept clipped so they couldn’t hold his weight to fly away and yet he was still positive and caring.

It wasn’t long before Mick realised he was in love with this divine beauty and could face him being caged up. One night he ‘accidently’ leaves the cage door open so Ray could escape. He asked Ray to knock him out and promised to follow him once the owner thought Ray had escaped by himself.

Things don’t go to plan and Ray is captured and Mick can do nothing but watch as for punishment Ray’s wings are cut off. The wings are displayed for all to come look at and Ray begins to fall more into despair losing his wings. At further insult he is forced to wear a fake pair and parade around as his angel self for onlookers.

This is the last straw and Mick decides he has to save Ray form this and one night sets fire to the carnival. In the chaos the two men escape and set off to find somewhere else to call home and see where this fledgling relationship takes them.
