Catacombs and ossuaries are a thriving hub of newfound bacteria kribbella Catacumbae and kribella sancticallisti. These bacteria have the potential to produce molecules that have useful properties like producing antibiotics. How would the church develop antibiotics made from the decaying corpses of some of the religious figures that are buried in these conditions?
