Bug of the Day
Wow, been a while since I saw one of these creepy crawlies. This is a bristletail, an insect in a unique order known as the Microcoryphia. They resemble but are not the same as the indoor pest (and bane of my childhood existence) known as the silverfish. Bristletails eat things like fungi and algae, and live their lives outdoors, typically hiding under rocks and in leaf litter.
