Some pictures I took on my most recent trip to Boston! Flying has always been hard for me because my ears don't equalize pressure properly but I found the cure to my pain! I use earbuds and put them in before I get on the plane to make sure that I'm at ground level and when we take off I play my favorite music and forget about the pain and the fear of my ears hurting during takeoff and landing! My ears don't get plugged and they don't need to equalize. So anybody struggling with ear pains while flying I would reccomend taking:
2-3 sudafed 45 min to an hour before take off to clear your sinuses and make sure everything is clear!
Take an anxiety or sleeping (melatonin) pill 45 min to an hour before, if you have a fear of flying or are worried about pain.
Clean your earbuds and your ears before boarding the plane, and put them on as the gate is calling you to board; and then find your seat, play your favorite song, and remember that it'll be okay!
I love to travel but I always had a slight fear because of my excruciating ear pain, my ears would take days to equalize so it made day trips hard on me. I'd be crying so hard during descent and begging my mom to never take me on another trip again, because it was just that horrible for me. I figured out that doing these steps worked for me and really helped make my traveling experience even better. Now, I have no problem hoping on a plane, even multiple times in one trip like Boston! From my departing airport to Boston, walking around Boston a bit, to jumping back onto a plane to my home airport, in less than 40 hours was a breeze!
I hope this helps someone, but I thought I'd share my experience with traveling and ear pain as it seems to be something nobody talks about.
