hi!! im genuinely so glad to see you back. i absolutely love your work and while you were gone i genuinely didn't know what to do because i love revisiting your work when ive run out of new bucky content. i was hoping you could maybe write something for beefy bucky with a mid-size reader who struggles with a little bit of body issues, maybe fluff/smut. maybe they're getting ready for a party or an event and it's just a really low confidence day for reader. anyway, i hope you are doing well and taking care of yourself <3 thank you so much for your work!!
You can tell it’s going to be a bad confidence day before you even put the dress on.
It starts small—standing in your underwear, hair half-done, makeup barely started, staring at your reflection like it personally offended you. The mirror feels too honest tonight. Too sharp. Every curve looks louder than usual, every soft place feels like it’s taking up more room than it should.
The dress is beautiful. You know it is. Deep color, fitted just enough, chosen specifically because Bucky once murmured, “You look unreal in that one,” into your hair.
Tonight, it just feels… wrong.
You tug it down, smooth it over your hips, then immediately tug it back up again. Your stomach twists.
From the doorway, Bucky watches quietly.
He’d been leaning there for a minute already, broad shoulder braced against the frame, arms crossed over his chest. He doesn’t interrupt right away—not because he isn’t paying attention, but because he is. He’s learned your rhythms. Knows when you need space, and when you need him to step in and ground you.
Your sigh gives it away.
“Doll,” he says gently.
You flinch anyway.
He crosses the room in three heavy steps, stopping behind you. You catch his reflection first—big, solid, dark-shirt stretched across his chest, arms thick and warm as they settle on your waist.
You immediately tense.
Bucky feels it.
His hands still.
“Hey,” he murmurs, lowering his head to your shoulder. “What’s goin’ on in that pretty head?”
You swallow. Your throat feels tight, stupidly emotional over nothing. “I just… I don’t feel good tonight.”
His brow furrows in the mirror. “Sick?”
You shake your head. “Just… me.”
That’s all it takes.
He turns you gently, like you’re something precious and fragile despite knowing how strong you are. His hands slide up your arms, thumbs brushing slow, grounding circles.
“C’mere,” he says.
You shake your head again. “Bucky, I don’t wanna ruin the night. We can just—”
“No,” he says softly but firmly. “You’re not ruinin’ anything.”
He lifts your chin with one finger until you’re looking at him. His eyes search your face with that quiet intensity that always makes you feel seen all the way through.
“Talk to me.”
Your voice comes out small. “I just feel… big tonight. Like everything shows. Like I don’t look the way I’m supposed to.”
His jaw tightens—not in anger at you, but at the idea that something made you feel this way.
“Who says ‘supposed to’?” he asks.
You shrug helplessly.
Bucky exhales slowly, then steps closer │until there’s no space at all. You feel him everywhere—his chest against yours, his thighs bracketing your legs, his warmth soaking into you.
“Let me tell you somethin’,” he says lowly. “And I need you to listen.”
His hands slide down your sides, big palms warm and sure, thumbs pressing into your waist like he’s memorizing you again.
“I love this,” he says. “All of it.”
You open your mouth to protest, but he cuts you off gently.
“Nope. You don’t get to argue with me about your body.”
A huff of a laugh escapes you despite yourself.
“I’m serious,” he continues, voice roughening. “I love how soft you are. How you fit into me. I love that when I grab you, there’s you there. Real. Warm. Perfect.”
His hands prove the point, squeezing your hips just enough to make your breath hitch.
“You know how you feel under my hands?” he murmurs, forehead pressing to yours. “Like home.”
Your eyes sting.
Bucky notices immediately.
“Oh, doll,” he whispers.
He pulls you into his chest, wraps you up completely, chin resting on your head. His heartbeat is steady and strong against your ear.
“You never have to earn being wanted by me,” he says quietly. “You never have to shrink or smooth yourself out or be anything other than exactly this.”
His hand slides up your back, slow and soothing. Another cups the back of your head.
“You’re beautiful on your worst days,” he adds. “And tonight? Tonight you’re knockin’ the wind outta me.”
You laugh wetly into his shirt. “You’re biased.”
“Damn right,” he says, kissing the top of your head. “Lucky me.”
He pulls back just enough to look at you again, eyes dark but soft.
“Now,” he says, thumbs brushing under your eyes, “do you want to go to this party, or do you want me to take you to bed and remind you exactly how wanted you are?”
Heat curls low in your stomach.
You glance at the mirror again—then back at him.
“I might need… convincing.”
A slow, dangerous smile curves his mouth.
“Yeah?” he rumbles. “I think I can handle that.”
He kisses you then—unhurried, deep, like he’s got all the time in the world. His hands are everywhere but never rushed, touching you with reverence, with hunger, with devotion.
And as he guides you backward toward the bed, murmuring praise into your skin, you realize something quiet but powerful settles in your chest.
Lee only woke up a few times to reposition and once to take his meds. He had truly forgotten that Y/n was staying with him until he saw her lying on the couch. He didn’t mean to stare at her, but he couldn’t look away. He couldn’t even begin to explain how adorable he thought she looked covered up with a blanket as she cuddled the excess material. It wasn’t until then that he noticed that she was wearing his sweatshirt. That sight made his stomach flutter. Lee shook his head and felt like he was crazy to like someone he had met four days ago. He felt like she really understood him. He tried not to open up too much in fear of scaring her off, but it was safe to say that Lee was starting to fall for Y/n. He had doubts that it was just because she was so kind and caring towards him, but he only had doubts to keep his expectations low in case she never felt the same. He drifted off to sleep and awoke to the smell of something sweet. Since he stopped drinking, Lee was like a hound dog with anything sweet.
He slowly got himself standing and entered the kitchen with more caution than before. The sight before him is something that he had longed for. Y/n stood in front of the stove cooking breakfast. As she cooked she hummed a tune that Lee was not familiar with. She was so lost in thought she didn’t hear Lee enter the kitchen. He crutched over to her and put a hand on her shoulder. She let out a small shriek as Lee startled her. Had she been anyone closer when she had jumped she may have knocked him over.
“Oh jesus Lee, you scared the hell out of me!” She held her hand over her chest and could feel her heart thumping.
“I’m sorry Darlin’, I didn’t mean to startle you.” He gave her an apologetic look
“It’s alright Lee, just make yourself known next time-shit!” She hurriedly turned back to the stove thinking she may have burnt their breakfast. Luckily she had gotten to it just in time. Lee made his way to the table to prevent distracting her anymore. He felt bad that he couldn’t help her by setting the table and doing any dishes. He was brought out of his thoughts when Y/n put a plate of french toast in front of him. She put powdered sugar on top and some bacon on the side. He didn’t waste time putting syrup on top and digging in. Y/n sat a cup of coffee and some sugar on the table. She wasn’t sure if he would like anything that she made, but by the lack of groceries in his kitchen, she didn’t have many options. But she assumed by the lack of time it took for Lee to finish his plate that she had done a good job. They sat in silence as they ate and drank their coffee.
“Darlin’, that was the best breakfast I have ever had, and I mean that.”
“Thank you, Lee, but it wasn’t anything special. We definitely need to get you to a store soon. You don’t have much food left.” She finished her plate and gathered the dishes to wash them. Lee admired her from his seat. She was still in her pajamas but wasn’t wearing his sweatshirt. He watched as she washed every dish and cleaned the counters of the mess she had made while cooking. Her clothing left little to the imagination as they hugged her form. From behind she seemed to be plumper than one would think, and Lee was in heaven. He quickly shooed the inappropriate thoughts away before he got himself into trouble. He stood himself up and headed back to his chair.
“Darlin’, I could use some fresh air. Do you want to go to the store in the next town over? They usually have a greater variety of things than the general store here in town.” He was nervous about leaving the house, but he felt stuffy being confined to the first floor of his home.
“That sounds great! Do you want to get a shower before we go?” She knew that he would have a difficult time, but he would have to get used to it.
“If we could make it happen that would be great.” Lee was very nervous about venturing up the stairs, but he wasn’t alone. But he also didn’t want to depend on Y/n too much.
Lee made his way over to the stairs. Y/n told him to sit on the stairs facing her, and as he pulled himself up each stair, she held his leg. He was surprised by how quickly he got up the stairs. Y/n helped stand him up and followed him into his room. She watched as he went to his closet and dresser to grab his clothes. She looked around his room in curiosity. He had a large king-size bed that was partially made. It appeared that Lee stuck to one side of the bed and didn’t spend time making it in the morning. He laid his clothes on the edge of the bed and sat down putting his crutches to the side. He had started to get red in the face as he took his shirt off. Y/n could see the blush across his face and walked into the bathroom to give him some time alone. She turned on the water to heat it up and found a towel to use and grabbed an extra one just in case.
She returned to see Lee looking at the ground as he ran his calloused hand across his face. Her eyes wandered down his body. He had very broad shoulders and dark hairs that littered his chest. He was all around a large man and not in a bad way. He as one would say has more cushion for the pushin’. Y/n didn’t have to use her imagination for the rest of it, because she had already seen him naked and was not going to complain about seeing that again. She wanted to make him as comfortable as possible, but to say she was attracted to him was an understatement. He looked up and caught her staring at him.
“A picture would last longer, Darlin’.” He chuckled. Catching her staring at him gave him a newfound confidence.
“I’m sorry Lee. I didn’t mean to make you uncomf-”
“It’s alright Darlin’, I’m just teasing.” He didn’t want to upset her. “Uh, can you help me get undressed?”
She nodded and quickly walked over to him. She kneeled down to help him remove his socks. Lee was trusting his gut when he put his hand under her chin and pulled her up to him. He slowly leaned in and gave her a small peck on the lips. He went in for a second when he felt her lean into him. She returned his kiss and moved herself onto the bed with him. Lee slid himself onto the bed more and pulled her with him. Lee’s hand had found its way to the back of her neck and the other on her thigh. Y/n had one hand on Lee and the other holding herself up. Y/n could tell that Lee had some experience because of the way he held her and caressed her face. Lee thought the exact opposite and felt that he was out of practice. This continued on for a few minutes until they broke away to catch their breaths, they were both red in the face and became nervous.
“Um, the water should be ready.” Y/n ushered Lee into the bathroom. She was hesitant at first but she knew she had to help him with his pants. She quickly removed them without looking too much and helped him enter the shower. Lee was able to wash himself and Y/n walked into his bedroom to give him privacy. Y/n was in shock of what had just occurred, she didn’t think Lee would like her let alone make such an unexpected move.
Lee felt somewhat embarrassed, he hoped that he didn’t go too far and make her uncomfortable. He was surprised in himself that he actually kissed her. He had planned to apologize in case he had upset her. He also would be lying if he said that what just happened didn’t make him extremely hard. He turned on the cold water to make it go away. He felt like a teenager having an erection after just kissing Y/n, but Lee hasn’t had any physical touch, besides his own, in a few years. He turned off the water and dried himself before tying the towel around his waist.
Y/n walked into the bathroom after hearing the water shut off. Seeing Lee in nothing in a towel did not help the situation at all. Neither spoke at this point, Y/n helped Lee out of the shower, and she stood by as he shaved and brushed his teeth. They moved into the bedroom where Lee quickly put on deodorant and sat down in the same spot as before.
“Look Y/n, I’m sorry for overstepping I don’t know-”
“You don’t need to apologize, Lee.”
“So I didn’t cross the line at all?”
“No Lee, I guess it just caught me off guard is all.”
“Okay, that’s good. Um can you help me bandage up my incision?”
Y/n agreed and grabbed some of the supplies that the hospital had sent home with Lee. She made sure the area was dry and applied a bandage to protect it. She then helped him get his socks on and put his underwear and pants around his ankles. He stood up and dropped the towel as Y/n pulled up his pants, she tried her best not to look. Lee put on his shirt and was ready to go. Y/n helped him back down the stairs and got him settled. She grabbed her stuff to get ready.
“Darlin’, can we talk?”
“What about?”
“I think it’s pretty obvious that I like you. But I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.” Y/n walked closer to him as he talked.
“Lee, to be honest with you. I like you too.” When those words left her mouth, Lee was unprepared for the fluttering he felt in his chest. “I think we should just take things slow for now, and get to know each other better, especially while you are healing.”
“Of course Darlin’, you are the one in charge.” Lee smiled up at her and grabbed her hand. He pulled her swiftly into his lap, to sit on his uninjured leg. She let out a little shriek and clung to him in fear of falling.
“Lee, I’m going to hurt you. Let me up.” He only tightened his grip around her waist and began pressing kisses along her cheek and neck. “Lee, I’m too big to be in your lap right now.”
Lee stopped his movements and gave her a confused look.
“You are not too big, you are absolutely perfect the way you are, and I want you right here in my lap.” He resumed his actions before she stopped him.
“Can I at least go shower first?”
“I guess so Darlin’, don’t take too long.” He said with a sigh.
Y/n gently got off of Lee and grabbed her things to head upstairs. Lee remained in his chair and read through another newspaper while he waited.
A/N: Hey guys sorry it took me so long to post things I have been thinking about this story and I want it to be more inclusive of those who feel like they are plus sized but aren’t really, more of a mid-size I guess. I say this because I have body dysmorphia and I can relate better to plus size stories, but I would not fit with that label per say.
Y/n ran up the steps and to Lee’s bathroom. She tried to be quick with her routine and only ever moved this quickly when she was running late for work. She had to use Lee’s products as she hadn’t been able to get her own. She made an attempt to shave her legs and only nicked herself once on the knee. She made no effort to apply any makeup; didn’t want to make Lee wait too long. Once she was done, she tidied up the bathroom, gathered the dirty towels, and put them in Lee’s laundry hamper. She chose to wear a white sundress with tiny blue flowers.
Lee got excited as he heard Y/n come down the stairs. He quickly stood up and had a large grin plastered on his face. His eyes followed her every move as she walked down each step. He only stared for a moment or so before Y/n pulled him out of his trance.
“Darlin’ you look gorgeous.”
“Thank you Lee, you look quite handsome yourself.”
“Are you ready to go?”
Y/n nodded and grabbed her purse and keys. She was anxious to have Lee walk around so much, but wanted him to help pick things out at the store, and he needed the fresh air and scenery. She followed him as he crutched his way out the door. She helped him into the car and hopped behind the wheel. She was nervous to drive Lee around, as he was still a sheriff and feared any critiquing from him about her driving skills. With Lee’s directions it did not take long to reach the supermarket. Y/n pushed the cart as Lee followed her. They went down every aisle so they wouldn’t forget anything. However, Y/n still forgot an item from two aisles over.
“Shit, Lee, I forgot the flour and sugar. You stay with the cart and I will be right back.” She quickly walked off to grab the forgotten goods. Lee kept himself occupied as he waited for Y/n. He heard a familiar voice and turned towards it. Out of all the people he thought he would run into she was the last on his list.
“Hi Lee.” Lee froze when he heard her voice.
“Hi Florence.”
“What happened to you, are you okay?”
“I’m fine thank you, just an accident at work.”
“How have you been otherwise?” Florence tried to pry more out of her ex husband but Lee was very stubborn.
“What do you want, Florence? Why are you even here? I would have thought you’d run off with some rich man and get out of this shit hole.”
“I stayed close after we split, but-”
“I got the flour and sugar, they put the flour on the top shelf so I had to find someone to help me. Oh, who is this?”
“I’m Florence, Lee’s ex wife and you are?” This was Lee’s worst nightmare, he thought of all the possible ways they could get out of this situation.
“I’m Y/n-”
“Y/n has been helping me since I got hurt.”
“Oh alright, well it was good to see you Lee and nice to meet you Y/n.” She gave them a nod and went on her way.
Y/n was confused about what had occurred while she was a few aisles away, but did not pry for any information because Lee already seemed upset. They quietly finished their shopping and started their journey home. The faint sound of the radio was the only thing to break the deafening silence in the vehicle.
“I don’t mean to budge, but I didn’t know you had an ex wife.”
“Yeah, we were together for a long time. But it just didn’t work after a while.” He lied to her because he always felt embarrassed to tell people that his then wife had cheated on him.
“Oh okay.”
“Seeing her today just brought up some bad memories, and I’m sorry if that affected my mood towards you.”
“You’re okay Lee, you just seemed sad is all.”
“I’m alright Darlin’.” He moved his hand to her thigh and gave it a small squeeze. He decided to leave his hand there to test the waters.
Y/n felt a small blush creep onto her face along with the butterflies in her stomach. She then felt an unfamiliar warmth between her legs but chose to ignore it. The rest of the ride they remained in a peaceful silence. Once they arrived at Lee’s Y/n unloaded the car and let Lee put some things away. She would have rather let him rest but he insisted that he was fully capable of helping her. Y/n made them a small lunch and watched Lee attempt to wash dishes while leaning on his crutches. As determined as he was, Y/n finished washing the dishes. They retreated to the living room, Lee plopped onto the couch instead of his chair and laid down. All of the walking had taken his energy. Y/n went to sit on Lee’s chair when he stopped her.
“Darlin’, you are too far away. Come sit with me.”
Y/n walked over and sat at his feet but Lee wanted her to be closer.
“Will you lay with me Darlin’?”
“Are you sure Lee? I might be a little heavy for that, I don’t want to hurt your leg.”
Lee shook his head in frustration.
“I am absolutely sure that I want you to lay with me and you gotta stop saying that you are too big because you are not and never will be. Once I’m healed up I will show you, but for now you need to take my word for it.” He gave her a stern look, but it softened as she got closer to him. Y/n laid on Lee with her head on his chest. Lee wrapped one arm around her and rubbed her back with his hand. It did not take long for the both of them to drift off to sleep.
Lee woke up to a cool breeze that overcame him. Y/n was no longer on his chest but in the kitchen preparing dinner. Lee rubbed his eyes and went to find her. He walked in the kitchen to see Y/n cooking dinner and singing along to a small radio she had found in one of his cupboards. The words she sang were faint but he could hear her. He stood there a few minutes before the song ended and decided to make his presence known.
“You are a woman of endless talents, Darlin’.” He approached her and stood beside her as she chopped some vegetables.
“Thank you Lee, but I would have to disagree.” When she looked up to talk to him she could see many hairs out of place from his nap. His disheveled dew made her smile as she continued to chop.
“Why don’t you ever believe me? Is it so outrageous to think that you are just as amazing as I say you are?” Lee was somewhat frustrated that Y/n kept arguing with him about this.
“I’m just not used to someone being so nice to me, Lee. You are the first man in a long time to actually pay any mind to me.”
“Well from now on all you need is my attention, can’t have anyone try to steal you away from me.” Lee reached over and gave her a small peck on her shoulder and moved his way up her neck with more kisses. She scrunched up when he got to her neck where she was a little ticklish. He decided to leave her to cook as he went outside to sit on his front porch. Lee didn’t get to sit out there very often and planned to do it as much as he could while he was off work. It was supposed to be relaxing until the one person he didn’t want to see showed up in his driveway.
