Oh! I forgot to tell you guys the good news.
My nephew is 10 and I have been trying to supply him non-Harry Potter books. I have already mentioned on this blog that I got him into Percy Jackson.
But this Christmas I got him Gregor the Overlander boxed set and this weekend he told me he finished them all. So this has by far been my biggest accomplishment of the week.
But now I need to think of another MG series for him. Am considering something about knights, like "Once and Future King" or Tamora Pierce--though he does tend to identify more with boy characters than girls which I need to work on.
Any ideas appreciated. (He's 10 but reads at a higher grade level, but is also not good with death. He stopped reading HP when Cedric died, I think, which is a great place to stop imo. And he didn't like Coco the movie because of all the dead people. So I was worried that cockroaches and rats in Gregor might put him off but apparently those were cool--he loves animals and he drew me a comic about him and his brother fighting a spider which is what made me thought of Gregor, actually. So it's a no on death or ghosts but he's okay with gross.)
