The rise of populism is often framed as a revolt against elite rule, but we’re facing a new paradox: The populism we’re witnessing is itself increasingly elite-driven. From Trump to J.D. Vance to the think tanks ghostwriting national policy, the leaders of the so-called anti-elite movement are Ivy League graduates and credentialed insiders. What we’re really seeing is not a populist uprising—but an elite appropriation of populist language, weaponized to consolidate power. And an overlooked tool in that weaponization is the erasure of the vast American middle class, a group that tends to get into college, make a decent living and hold reasonable, middle-of-the-road political views on everything from abortion to immigration to criminal justice.
Recentering the Middle Class in American Politics
They think it will discourage voters by amplifying American cynicism, making it easier for them to take over.
Over the past 42 years, Reaganomics has moved over 60,000 factories and nearly 20 million good-paying manufacturing jobs overseas.
It’s cut taxes on billionaires to the point they pay an average 3.4% income tax (when they pay anything at all: Trump, taking in billions, paid $750 a year for almost two decades).
Reagan’s policies destroyed the American union movement and stole $51 trillion from working-class people, putting almost every penny of it into the money bins of the GOP’s morbidly rich patrons.
The MAGA Party (formerly known as Republican Party) serves the interests of their right-wing billionaire donors/owners. The sham SCOTUS is bought and paid for - corrupted by the insane amounts of legalized bribery available since the destructive democracy-killing Citizens United decision.
Is Trump’s new bill really a win for the people… or a billionaire’s dream?
In my latest video, I break down the ugly truth behind Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.” We uncover who benefits, who loses, and the hidden costs that nobody in mainstream coverage is spelling out.
Inside the video:
📉 The cuts that quietly hurt the middle class.
🏦 The biggest financial winners hiding in plain sight.
⚠️ The “hidden time bomb” that could hit Americans by 2025.
Why this matters: Bills like these don’t just shift policy—they reshape wealth and power for a decade. If you want to understand what’s really at stake in 2025, this is the breakdown you need to see.
💬 Let’s Talk (for reblogs & replies):
Do you think this bill helps everyday people—or only the wealthy?
Should politicians package bills as “beautiful” when the fine print tells another story?
What’s the real cost of ignoring these details?

Different types of privilege
Even the title, Explaining White Privilege to a Broke White Person, was enough to immediately grab my attention. I am not a broke white person, so I was intrigued and keen to hear a poor person’s experience with and perspective on privilege. I knew the reading would expose me to a point of view I could not obtain any other way. One thing the writer pointed out that stuck with me is that some assumed white privilege is actually wrongly placed class privilege. If I remember correctly, some examples of this are assuming that people generally respect you, that you do not experience prejudice, or even assuming that you have access to clean water. I think privilege is often sorted into different categories, including race and wealth. However, these can be overlapped. Another concept that stood out to me was that common ideologies are not actually shared by everyone, but are instead relative to class. An example of this is how middle-class people assume they can get anything in life if they work hard enough. But the author, someone who grew up poor, shared that this was never a mindset she could adopt because, in her life, it seemed impossible. I am really glad the author decided to write about privilege in relation to being white and poor because I definitely think that area of discrimination is overlooked or shadowed by other areas.
