Oh Fruitberries my beloved, I am so so happy he's coaching Scar this midoffs. He just excudes warmth and whimsy and gets Scar's genuine excitement for the small things in a minecraft world.
I really really love how he reframes the most intimidating parts of speedrunning. Before we start routing the scary bastions, let's have a fly around first. You want an elytra in inventory for emotional support? 100% understandable let's do that. Say, do you want to learn how to leap across the bridge bastion gap between ramparts? It's a funny little parkour jump! It's not hard, it's a cool thing that 'might scare you', but not inherently difficult.
Midoffs treats itself as a competition to see who's the best coach, but realistically the best coach is different for each student. Couri excels at the actual coaching and acts as a great mentor / friend to an equally competitive and excitable student, while Silverr and his mentee is like a veteran battlefield commander and their well-trained soldier, unflappable and unstoppable. While I don't necessarily believe in Fruit & Scar winning the whole thing, I can't really imagine Scar meshing as well with anyone else while cramming so much in so little time. And ultimately, isn't that the point of midoffs?
Also, we as a community should endeavor to adopt Scar Tower into our lexicon. It might not see much use, but Scar just seems so happy to hear it. It's always nice when an unlikely collision of worlds leave little marks of its existence.
Back in midoffs 2 we used to pray for days like that. Absolute cinema, shoutout team fruitberries and all the other teams too
we're all remembering to be kind and respectful to midoffs players, coaches, and organizers, right?
right?
right?
day 37: go go team silverr!
had to make Nerdi fanart cause those calls were crazyyy. best assistant coach fr 🙏
So just because I haven't seen a clip of it anywhere yet, and I found it funny, here is what happened on Couriway's stream when he realized what led to Ludwig needing to go down to bottom treasure for more gold.
Context for anyone who didn't watch the match below (will also include an explanation for anyone who isn't familiar with minecraft speed running, or with "graveling trades" and why Ludwig shouldn't have done that, just in case anyone who needs the explanation cares enough to read any of this. no promises that I will explain WELL, I'm new to this whole scene).
If fruitberries doesnt draft False for Midoffs i’m gonna cry my blue bats heart out
