Today is #midweekmemade, and hence a chance to show off stuff we've made ourself. I've picked out a few of the things I've made in recent years for an improvised show and tell. There's the tweedy waistcoat made from an old Laura Ashley skirt, the blue camouflage waistcoat, an early striped variant, the one I made from an old pair of army fatigues, another I made from a vintage army shelter. Quite a few waistcoats really. Then a couple of jackets, the tan chore coat and another using the same pattern, but in vintage army tent again. I think we can deduce that I tend to stick to a theme... It's not all about making stuff though, it's very useful to have some sewing skills when it comes to alterations. Hemming cuffs, shortening arms, adding some darts. Or even just reattaching buttons that fall off (or very shoddily attached from the factory). Self-reliance is hot.
