Today I recreated the first meal that Miemo Cho made for me: buttermilk fried chicken, succotash, mac & cheese, and bacon deviled eggs. It was for our first barter: June 14, 2014, for engagement photos. Food for photos, that was the forever agreement. I dropped the hard boiled eggs, stubbed my toe and almost fell, cried in the front lawn, was bitten by many a mosquito photographing in the muggy grass, but I thought of her the entire time and in the end it all worked out. Poured a glass of whiskey for her too. Here’s to my friend Miemo, and honoring her memory through food. 🌺
